Ok, we all know about the never-ending battle to make international (and domestic for that matter) calling from a cell phone relatively inexpensive.
This is a necessity for...
1) students in Spain who only have a cell phone (no land line where they are living).
2) Any parent who has their kid studying over here with only access to a cell phone.
3) US, English and other European visitors (tourists) who come to Spain often and only have a cell phone.
4) Anyone who has a cell phone (prepaid or contract line) and is tired of having to choose between the "maana" or "tarde" (morning or afternoon) calling plan.
So, pretty much everybody!!!
Well... WE HAVE WON AN IMPORTANT BATTLE!!!
The new calling card is called "Call and Connect" and it can be used from ANY PHONE!!!
You can use this card to call from ANY PHONE (INCLUDING YOUR CELL PHONE) for 14 cents./min . to ...
A) A cell or normal phone in USA (this is a huge plus as you can call from a Spain cell to a US cell for 14 cents/min.), UNHEARD OF BEFORE!!!B) A normal phone (land line) in:
-Australia
-Austria
-Belgium
-Canada
-Denmark
-France
-Germany
-Ireland
-Italy
-Japan
-Liechtenstein
-Luxembourg
-Netherlands
-New Zealand
-Norway
-Portugal
-Spain
-Sweden
-Switzerland
-UK
Calling to a cell in Europe is more expensive (50 cents/min.) so this new card is ideal for calling from a cell to either a land line in the above listed countries or to a land line or cell in the U.S.A., that is when you get the 14 cent/min. rate.
THERE ARE NO ADDITIONAL FEES (CONNECTION FEES, EXPIRATION FEES, ETC...) ON THIS CARD EITHER AND IT IS GOOD FOR 90 DAYS FROM FIRST USE (ACTIVATION).The card has a face value of 20 Euros and comes with 22 Euros call credit in it (2 additional Euros for free

) which gets you 157 minutes airtime
Anyone interested in learning more about the Call and Connect card can see the...
1) complete country list and prices (for calling to normal phones and cell phones) by clicking
HERE (EXCEL documant).
and/or
2) surcharges aplicable to using the card in other countries when dialing from different types of phones by clicking
HERE (EXCEL documant).
The card can also be used in most European countries at the same rate from any phone (including cells) in the country to call the above destinations at the same 14 cent/min. rate.
So, if you are just visiting Spain and do not use it all up, you can use it back in your home country as well
The card looks like this...
It works like any other phone card. You dial the access number (toll free), then enter your PIN code and hit #, then dial the number you want to call (including the international codes)and hit # again.
So, to call USA, you would dial "001 + area code + phone n" and then the pound sign (#) when asked to dial the number you want to call.
Detailed instructions are in English on the back of the cards.
So, while the "
eurodirect" card is still the best deal if using a land line to call another land line, the new "Call and Connect" card is an unbelievable deal when calling from cell phones, especially when calling internationally.
If you compare calling abroad (to USA or UK for example) from your cell with this card to using the credit in your cell phone (Movistar, Vodafone, Amena), the savings are AMZING.
For example, the cheapest rate to the USA is with Vodafone at 60 or 50 cents/min. (depending on whether you call peak or off peak) plus a 35 cent connection fee. The "Call and Connect" card does it for 14 cent/min. with NO CONNECTION FEE.
Also, while you can use the card with a contract or prepaid cell, even if you have no call credit left in your prepaid cell phone, you can still use the card!!! (except with Amena who require you have at least 1 Euro prepaid credit to make the call to the toll free access #

).
I will be glad to answer any questions about this new calling card here on this thread.
