Well folks, the sad(!) day has come for me on Lanzarote. BBC TV is no longer being beamed to my house!!! It has gone (not sure when it went actually Confused , but it wasnt there yesterday!!) I did hear a rumour that BBC havent completely cut off their options with SKY, so does anyone out there know if we may get it back?

Last I heard was that the BBC will stop using Sky's very expensive scrambled coding system to save money and will move all of their channels to another tighter beam satellite positioned over the UK. Also, they said that the BBC would not leave sky completely, but only switch to the unscrammbled service in May / June 2003, so we will need to wait and see what happens.
The article I read was a bit confusing. My first impression was that we would just get all of the BBC channels that used to be scrammbled for free. Yippie Smiler
Then I continued to read about them swithching satellites and do not know if we will be able to pick up this new signal from the new satellite without changing anything. Oh no!!! Eeker
I never had BBC one, only BBC two, BBC three, BBC four, cbbc, and beebies. It may also be the dish size, LNB Connector or sky card as well. You will need to have the latest SKY card to have everything set up correctly on your system and see what is really going on.
Anyway, when I find out for sure I will post.
Cheers.
Rocco.

The guy who does our installation, Peter Hutchinson Tel;639783524, explained to me that both B.B.C. and I.T.V were going 'free to air', the signal will change slightly and for guaranteed signal strength you will probably need a bigger dish, we have a 1.8 m so no problem there, but they are expensive, maybe you could rig up one of Jer's paelleras...
