Anyone knows what the tonguetwister in the song "Asereje" by Las Ketchups means? Is it in "Cal" (gypsy's lingo) or is it simply gibberish? This song seems to be the silly dancing song of the summer, right? :m:

Hey Rafa, they played a free concert last night in the neighborhood of Legazpi but I am so sick of that song I did not go, besides, I had to.... uh... wash my hair last night
As far as we (my gal and I) know, the "asereje" is indeed gibberish.
Yep! Every year a song (usually a horrible one) becomes the "cancin del verano" (song of the summer) and they play it over and over until we all vomit. It even makes one wish that the summer would end "de una puatera vez"
I read in a trashy magazine that the chorus to Asereje is a spanishasized version of an old Sugar Hill Gang rap, which is why it doesnt make any sense.

Thanx, guys! I have a slight suspicion some of the words may be related to "Cal"...
At least it's a song to have fun and dance and chill out... :m: For quality I like Presuntos Implicados double CD recorded live in Valencia. :l:
I just saw "Las Ketchup" on TV from Benidorm tonight, and they are just "harmless" fun! :b:
Hey, Jer, Do you still have one of your webcams pointing downwards towards the "camarerazo"? A bunch of people I showed your thread here in Miami LOVED :l: what you did!!! That was a nice, quality thing you did...my hats off to you guys!
Saludotes, estis sembraos!

Hey Rafa! I too like Presuntos Implicados. I enjoyed that song 'Gente' that they released last year. I thought it was a pleasant enough tune but a lot of people around here told me they didn't like it.
No taste...None...No taste at all...estos espaolitos!

Yeah...Tony, I really enjoy listening to Soledad Gimnez from "Presuntos Implicados" wherever she happens to participate...very alluring voice! And that double CD recorded live in Valencia I mentioned earlier has excellent sound quality. But, then again, that's what taste is all about; "para los gustos se han hecho los colores," right? To each his/her own! Is that the right translation, profe?
Jer, you have no idea the word of mouth promotion you get! And deservedly so! Keep it on!
Happy Autumn Equinox today to all!
How are people in Madrid after the summer vacations? Rested and de-stressed?
Saludos
Rafa

I don't know if this is Span-glish or not, but I've always said: "A cada uno, lo suyo" to express 'to each his/her own.' Is that a valid Spanish expression, can anyone tell me?
I'd like to know whether or not I'm 'de-purifying' the language or not...? It sounds ok, but I'm not sure... Help!...Ayudame! :m:

Some words sometimes get out of fashion from practical reasons. There was a time in Madrid when "tienda de ultramarinos" meant a modest neighborhood store for foodstuffs, etc. That word has been substituted for "el hyper" meaning supermarket, while there are still old fashioned and quaint types of "mercados" like the San Miguel one, a stone's throw from Jer's kitchen window. Sometimes you repeat phrases you've heard from your parent's while growing up and never question them. I think "para los gustos se han hecho los colores" is Andalusian in its origin. However I'm looking forward to hear other explanations, especially if they are part of a song's lyrics...right?!
Vaya toalla! Saludos,

I cant believe Jer had to wash his hair instead of going to the free concert."Asereje" is the most super mega guay cancin de verano since the legendary American duo Millie Vanillie released "Blame it on the Rain". I assume that Jer has been able to master the totally cool dance steps for the song. Is safe to say that it is the best new routine since "Walk like an Egyptian".
PS: Jer, is it true that Tiffany and The New Kids on the Block will doing a show December 28 in Madrid?
