And if the service proves to be terrible will Telefonica charge you again for re-connection?

DAMN RIGHT THEY WILL!!! not only that but you will probably have another 6 days (weeks?) of downtime and will have to humble yourself on the phone with some 16 year old intern at telefonica data who will give you the "told ya so!" attitude for having left telefonica for another company nutz

Yeah, Normske, that's what I'm afraid of... The sales guy seemed genuinely surprised that I was skeptical of their ability to do the changeover smoothly. He even said that in the contract they guarantee that it takes from 1-6 hours of downtime to make the switch. I was just wondering if anyone has ever changed over and had it happen within six hours or a short period of time.

It's funny, because Jazztel was hounding me a few months ago. I told them to send me an email with details of the offer and I would think about it. After hearing how long it might take to do the switch I decided not to do it. One of their reps called at the same time everyday--right when I was most busy making lunch--so I just didn't answer. Finally one day Christian answered and told the salesperson that we weren't interested. She screamed at him and told him that we were "gilipollas"!

Ohh, get this. My wife has just started a job with a credit card company. A girl she is working with has just got out of Jazztel. Apparently to save money they are getting rid of a lot of their trained staff (if you can call them that!) and moving to call centres out of Madrid etc to A Coruna. The (all) new staff have to be trained. And she said the new offer (6 hours switchover) will be more likely 20 days minimum. Lots of other little nasties waiting to bite you as well, especially if you try to cancel. At the moment I've got an ok connection and will leave it at that. Just don't go for the 20mb. Size isn't everything!!

Wow, if I got called a "gilipollas" by the trained staff, I can only imagine what the untrained staff is going to come up with.

I'll admit, I did get caught up in the size issue--20 mbs ASDL! Thanks for talking me down from the ledge...

My god, I think I know this one. I once babysat for a family and the only videos that they owned were Weird Science and Neighbors. I watched them both over and over again. I could swear that line was made in reference to the enlargment of a certain female body part by Anthony Michael Hall or his little friend. Am I right?
