Glad you got your ADSL straightened out schwendy. Didn't you? Don't take it the wrong way but, as Roland posted before, paying that kinda money for just 1Mbps seems like a poor decision to me. I have a landline with Telefonica and Ya.com 4MB ADSL + Spain calls for free and it all works very nicely. Comes in at about 55 Euros/month with tax and I share it with 2 housemates so @ 18 Euros a person, it is great.

Just noticed this response-and, well, if you had followed this you will see that I tried with Ya and they were unable to do it. Personally, I don't think that these other providers are necessarily crap-I just think it is a complex thing to use someone else's line and telefonica is not making it easier for them at all. I had a telefonica guy come out to install imagenio (MUCH cheaper than satellite for the same service) and it took him all day to get the central to set it up correctly. And he was FROM telefonica! Imagine how difficult it would have been if he was from another company and telefonica made his life difficult! In my own experience so far (and I KNOW I am probably cursing myself by saying this), Telefonica has been incredibly quick and shockingly responsive to any issue. At least in comparison to Verizon or AT&T. They answer the phone quickly and resolve my issues. And it took me about seven hours from the time I called to get imagenio until the tech called to say he was coming to install it the next day! Now, on to my question. As Jer has pointed out, the telefonica routers are not the most powerful pieces of equipment on the planet. My apartment is long and has twists and turns and I need to get wireless throughout, which is not happening now. Rather than keep moving the router, I would like to amplify the signal. I was told by a technician this morning that simply plugging in another router (on the same IP address) will not work-because only one will receive the signal at a time. He said that a base inalambrico would strengthen the signal. So my question is, what do you think? And, where would you recommend I go to buy such a thing (I would like to go to a store where I can explain what I am trying to do and they will understand and make suggestions rather than just try to sell me something). Any suggestions? Does FNAC know what they are doing, for example? Thanks!

why Wendy... quote: imagenio...MUCH cheaper than satellite for the same service
is it the same? i thought that imagenio did not offer the dual (english as well) for dual broadcast channels/shows/movies) while satelite digital does. so, unless imagenio offers english content like sat. dig. (let us know if it does as i do not know anyone else with imagenio), then it is not "the same service". i just want to clarify so as not to lead anyone astray here. easy on PolarLights there, he means well and is on the money with ya.com (even if he did not see that you had tried and failed). yes, the guys at fnac are knowledgable as are those at pc city (if you can get hold of one in the store, they are often very busy). saludos, jer...

Um, with regard to Polarlights, I was just trying to explain why I (and, gosh, a LOT of us here) had made what he labeled a "poor decision." Ya wasn't able to provide the service-which TONS of us have now experienced (which this thread and the "ADSL at last" thread discuss in detail!) And I am not even saying that it is Ya's fault-it's telefonica's fault Just the way things are at the moment. As for imagenio, what I am saying is that for the fairly basic service that I have (which does include movies in english on a pay per view basis), those same exact channels in a package cost about twice as much on satellite-so, for my purposes, it is cheaper. Yes, definitely, satellite has the option for about a 1000 more channels including in English than you will ever get from imagenio. There is no one service-there are many many packages. For example you could seriously overdose on the futbol. It all depends on what you want. I do absolutely stand by my telefonica is responsive claim-did I mention that it took LITERALLY three months for Canal Plus to respond to my request for info on their service?
