I am trying to get two computers hooked up to our ADSL service and still be able to use a phone line, but I am having a lot of difficulties. So, I am now looking to pay a computer person to come in and do it for me. I am not sure what an appropriate offer would be, so if anybody is interested in doing it, please contact me and we can discuss a price (whatever seems the most fair).
Please call me at 617 22 45 56 and ask for Angelo.
Thanks a lot! I hope someone out there can be of assistance.
Hi Angelo, a friend of mine could make it. But first of all let me know.
What is the operative system of both compueters? What tipe of net able coaxial o RJ-45? Whos the adsl provider? Do you speak spanish, mostly to understand my friend better, but not relevant. Area where you live.

Sorry its taking me so long to reply to your questions, but I have to keep going to an cyber cafe to get online.
Now, Im not sure how well I can answer all of your questions because I am not too great with computer terminology, but I will try to explian as best as possible.
Our adsl provider is Terra. We had adsl on one of our computers for the last few months as it has been working well. But I just brought my computer from the states and when I tried to hook that up to the adsl as well, I lost all internet access on the computer we had it on in the first place. The icon that tells us we are connected has disappeared all together.
We do not have a Mac. Both computers are laptops- one is a Dell and the other is a Compaq. We have a wireless internet box that came with the adsl package from Terra, so that neither computer needs to be plugged in while on the internet.
manuelindiana, we live in Puerta de Toledo, very close to the metro station and we both speak Spanish. And yes, as jer noted, there are a lot of stairs; We live on the fifth floor, but Im willing to pay extra to compensate for the flights up.
I hope this answered most of your questions.
And manuelindiana, please let us know if your friend can do it.
ok, i am going to assume that the "wireless internet box" you are referring to is a wireless router.
so, before your arrival your roomies pc was connected to the net no probs with no cables?
and your laptop has a either built-in wireless or a wireless network adapter as well?
if your pc stopped both from working, you may have a deal with terra that only allows for 1 pc connected at a time. when they come out with dsl offers, sometimes they do that and make you pay if you want to connect an additional pc.
also, you should have a slice of paper lying around from terra with the following info...
direccin ip (ip address of your router). puerta de enlace (default gateway). mscara de subred (subnet mask). dns preferido (preferred dns servers, main and alternate).
sorry, i'm sure i just totally lost you
anyway, i would be glad to pop by tomorrow or wed. and have a look. if i feel i can get it working, i will let ye know what it will cost you (with the "furniture discount" of course ) and then you can decide if ya want me to do it or not.
please call me on my office landline (91 523 2159) tomorrow between 12noon and 3pm or on my cell phone (656266844) before or after those hours and we can set up a time for me to come by.
Since Jer seems to handle the situation pretty well, we are not going to get involved in the issue. Nevertheles in case he doesnt solve the matter and you feel like it, send us a mail.
My friends name is Javier and his e-mail address is javiercanadas@hotmail.com
Cheers.
