Hello guys, besides saving photos from memory cards into CD, can we download them in internet cafes? Do the computers there have USB ports that we can connect to? I am thinking of maybe saving the pics in Yahoo photo website, and retrieve them when i get home. Will there be any extra charges beside the hourly charge?

hey jus, normally the smaller internet cafs will let you do this, mostly since they will do just about anythign for your business since they are almost extinct. problem is, almost all internet cafes here are paranoid about you loading any programs (even drivers) into their machines and the smaller ones have older op. systems that do not automatically recognize digital cams like windows xp or 200 do.
i have been told that you can also do this at "cyberfutura" on calle montera (just off puerta del sol) and at "cyberinterpublic" at c/. crrera de sn jrnimo #18, 1st floor (also just off puerta del sol). "cyberfutura" apparently has 4 (?) pc-s set up near the front of the place just for hooking up digital cams to.
if i go by any of the above soon i will try to confirm for you, when are you coming over?

most definitely at the ones mentioned above, they tend to charge for every little extra.
i went by the BBiGG in puerta del sol (actual address is calle mayor n1) above "sol park" and they definitely do let you download the images from your digicam, and at no extra cost unless you want to burn them to cd
you have to bring the usb cable of course and their pc-s use windows xp so no software is needed in 99% of the cases as xp recognizes most digitall cameras. they will not let you load in software anyway.
as for the publishing of images to the www, you can do this only if your web server has a remote ftp (built in, such as ftp.mutlimadrid.com). you can not load in an ftp program as they do not let you load software into their machines.
i think yahoo has an ftp simulator that allows you to upload pics via the tools in yahoo groups so this would work for jus.
Hello jer!!! thank u so much! this really helps! i'll be arriving madrid 27mar and staying for 5 days before moving on to seville and the other cities/towns.
Yes of course i'll bring my own USB cable. I wont need to download anything, yahoo allows uploading of pics to the site of up to 30G i think. But it's a great news that the internet cafes also burns pics into cds. Another option! Any idea of what the prices are like? Do they charge for the cd?
This is so exciting. I'm really looking forward. I've wanted so much to visit spain. I had initially wanted to bring a digicam and a videocam, so me and husband will take care of one thing each. But we are concerned with attracting attention of pickpockets, so guess we shall settle with just the smaller digicam...
