The first drive-through bank service is in testing here in the outskirts of Madrid. It is in a Caja Madrid in "Majadahonda", a suburb of Madrid.
Just saw it on the news and thought it was interesting how they are saying that residential areas outside Madrid are becoming more and more like their counterparts in the U.S.A.
Dis not want to open a "can-o-gusanos" here but just thought it was interesting.
That really is something 'gusano-boy'! You know, I was just explaining the concept of a 'drive-thru' ATM the other night in one of my classes and I had to stop and explain to the class what a drive thru bank was like.
They of course associated it with some of the Grocery and Retail type shops around here where they shuttle money between cash registers and their safes via the little air-suction tubes. That was the most similar concept I could think of to help them understand it...
Of course, there's no real need here in Spain for drive thru ATM's in my opinion since I believe that Spain has more ATM's than any other country in the EU and certainly is one of the most ATM-Populated countries in the world. There are tons more ATM's in Spain than in the US. Hmmmmmm?! Interesting topic!

I remember a drive-through bank service in my city when I was a child...in 1982 or so. There were two of them in different places and I must say that I live in an small city (Santander) . But this kind of service was closed and we didnt have it anymore. The drive-through bank service was offered by Caja Cantabria... so this is no a new thing in Spain...but maybe it is new in Madrid.
I must say that we didnt have a McDonalds in this city till 3 years ago... so I can understand that new things are not very welcome in so conservative place as this.
These were my two Euro cents
Cheers!!! (I know...just British say it...but I dont care about Americans...in fact they are the ex-colony) LOL

Not entirely true buddy. We don't use it as a salutation as the Brits do, that's true, but we do use it for 'drink toasts' and the like.

No problem Iker...I promise that I won't force anymore culture classes on you unless you explicitly ask for them... Sorry, it's a bad habit that many of us have who've taught English at one time or another. :b:
BTW, I've checked with my people and they had no problem with what you said in any of your previous posts , although they very well may not offer to make you one of those new paid individuals who say nice things about the American government...I understand the competition's pretty tough!
Keep saying what you like homey...That's what the board's all about.... Es decir, Espaa va bieeeeennnnnnn!
