jazzbo, you'll find the English version (abridged) of El Pas @ http://www.elpais.es/misc/herald/herald.pdf (yes, it's a PDF file so you'll need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader). It's pretty great! I read it daily (runs Monday through Saturday). FEW (if any) other online newspapers from Spain have English versions. Sorry!
jazzbo, you can go to www.madridnews.com which does a decent job at bringing together many news sources (CNN, Reuters, etc.) and articles into one website.
Aside from the Herald insert and MadridNews.com, there is realy not much out there so to get the whole scoop I guess you will have to learn Spanish
When I was in high school I used to get the "El Pas International Edition" delivered. I was a regular subscriber and if I recall correctly it arrived weekly and was a thin (hence the "onion-skin" comment in the quote below) "El Pas", a summary of the paper itself but I think they phased that out. Found this quote online which confirms my suspicion...
quote:
El Pas now has editions published in Mexico and Buenos Aires and seems to have eliminated its onion-skin paper international edition
I am using Acrobat Reader 4.0 and I can save it and/or print directly from the web.
While the "File"-->"Save" or "Save As" options are not available to save to your Hard Drive, the little diskette icon on the toolbar (usually only visible when looking at the document online) is and allows you to save the file to your computer. You can then read offline or print it out without any "problemas"
Let me know if that helps!
If not, I can send you the current one via e-mail if you want since I just saved it to my desktop (it is 1.54MB in size).
El Mundo , one of the more liberal newspapers here in Spain still offers its rag online for free though I havent seen anything on its site in English. Happy reading!
