Just want to know if anyone out there remembers a little TV Jingle for little kids that had a little girl named Cleo? The song went something like this, (forgive my misuse of the Spanish language), "Vamos ala cama, para descansar, vamos a manana, para a jugar" I remember watching that come on the TV every night at 8 oclock and I knew it was bed time for me. Also, Sunday afternoon bullfights on TV, I use to love watching the talent and skill the bullfighters had to have to be in the ring with one of those raging bulls. Some people are really against the whole idea of bullfighting, but as for me, I love to watch it on TV, never have been to a live one and don't know if I would be able to stomach a live one. Any thoughts on this topic Smiler Smiler

Yes! It went: "Todos a la cama que hay que descansar para que maana podamos madrugar" at exactly 8:00 PM. Not that many paid much attention to it! Remember that in Madrid you graduate to "gato" (trasnochador) :jeje:

Hey Mermaid, no problem, glad to help.

"madrugar" = "to wake up early" ( Eeker ), hence my alergic reaction to it Big Grin

I know this will sound like your teacher or father here but it would help you to learn if you looked up the words that you do not know at http://buscon.rae.es/diccionario/drae.htm (the dictionary of the Real Academia Espaola).

You can see the description in Spanish which helps a lot more than getting the direct translation from someone.

Ok, I just went to get you the official definition of "madrugar" for you at that RAE URL and it seems that the dictionary is down right now (foot, meet mouth Wink ). It usually works though, I swear.

hi Carolina,

I remember the tv jingle, the little cartoon and everything. ...Always before going to bed. Actually it was an Argentinian tv jingle and author. In those days, (and now!) lots of Argentinian ads and media editors were (and are) very reputed in Spain.

I miss them in a way, dont you?

Nighty night

Jer: The "Pikoln" ad was a commercial for a specific brand, as opposed to the jingle which simply was a behavioral inducement tool to remind parents and kids it was time to go to bed early so the could get up early (madrugar) and go to school the next morning! Smiler

There were a lot of TV programs from that era (early 70's) which I'm sure some people in this message board may remember: "La casa de los Martnez", Joe Rgoli's "Yo sigo" comedy bit (this guy was argentinian), "Estudio Abierto" with Jos Mara Iigo (music and youth oriented), this last one I had the chance to participate once playing simultaneous chess against Danish grandmaster Bent Larsen the same night the kiddie singing group "La Pandilla" was introduced to Spanish audiences; I lost but I had lots of fun...exciting for the kid I was!

And a contest program I don't remember the name of it, but I remember the comedy counterpart was someone named "Don Cicuta" and it was about possesing knowledge about a chosen topic...and loads and loads of others...I bet some people could add more...just like "Operacin Triunfo" seems to be the frontrunner these days!

Well, aserej to all! Just kidding...! Wink :jeje:
