well, when you decide to join fon and share your connection, you have a control panel to set how much of your bandwidth you want to use for the shared connection. i have mine set to the minimum 512kb right now and have not noticed any changes in my internet speed (and i depend on it for work). i do not do any major downloading, just e-mail, www and ftp stuff though. my connection also provides my tv as we have imagenio and that is not affected either. quote: Can you turn it off when you need to work and need the extra bandwith?
turning it off is not a good idea since they (fon) can see when the "fonera" is off and if it is off more than they would like, they can revoke your membership. since you can change (increase and decrease) the amt. of bandwidth that the fon connection uses, it is best to lower it if you need a mega connection to work with and then increase it when you are not working. that way, the fonera is still on and shows at fon hq as on. saludos, jer...

You know this really pisses me off.  I gave Jer the idea and he takes all of the profits and I am an English teacher trying to make my way in Madrid. It's not fair. Once again, the Black man gets shafted.  Congrats Jer. Keep up the great work. Shawn
