Sure do understand about the English TV part. We found out about the yellow button after months of watching dubbed TV and that only by accident.

hey all.

just wanted to pop in here and post about my exp. with the imagenio service.

we decide to put in imagenio because we were paying 20 euros for a basic phone line + 40 euros for adsl & all national calls to fixed lines via ya.com for a total of 60 euros a month. we wanted to have more english language tv for baby lync kiss so he could watch all his toons in english. we are trying to expose him to as much english as possible at this young age.

i was told that the full trio with imagenio family package would cost 80 euros a month and only 20 euros the first 3 months as they were having a special. the trio is tv + internet 3MB + phone and calls to national landlines.

so, for us it is worth 20 euros more per month for the extra tv channels and the original version services.

i went into a telefónica shop around the corner from my apt. on a thurs. afternoon around 4pm. i signed up and was told that they would call me within 10 days to set up an appointment for installation.

the next morning atound 11am i was FLOORED eeker when my cell phone rang and it was the installation tech asking if i was going to be at home within an hour or so as he wanted to come by and do the installation. i was around my neighborhood at the time so i said i would meet him at my place at 12noon. i was NOT about to tell him to come another day as in spain that would mean "come in a month or so" roll eyes

we met at noonish, he installed the router and configured the service, etc...

i made sure it all (wifi included) worked with my MacBook Pro and ena's iMac as i had read on a lot of spanish forums that telefónica was installing 2 different types of modems and one of them was incompatible with Macintosh.

i asked the technician how it was possible that they would come the day after i signed up and he told me that with all of the competition these days (jazztelia tv, orange, ono, etc...), they really put a move on when a new client signs up.

the service so far has been great. neither the tv, phone nor internet has cashed in the 6 weeks we have had it.

as for the v.o. in english, it has been pretty solid and the (in)famous littel yellow button has responded well to our needs.

i must say that the 4 disney channels alone are worth the service big grin as they are all available in english.

once in a while some channels that are supposed to offer v.o. do not change to english when you try to change them but ena works at a tv station and she tells me that it is because whoever is working in the broadcast booth at the time has simply forgotten to turn on the "dual broadcasting". it does not happen enough to be a bother so we are fine with the service.

saludos,
jer...

Hey Jer!

You made the right choice Buddy. I have had Imagenio for the past 3 years and have a router Zyxel that was installed by TESA (Telefonica). I can´t complain as we only had a problem once with Imagenio TV and was resolved in 1 day.

The problem was myself as I only reported it after 4 days when my kids started complaining. The problem was that when telefonica had to sincronize something in thier switches which thousands and relatively thousands of decoder went bust and had to replace the units they did respond Fast and like I said it took one day alone after I reported it. Similar to your experience.

You see Jer it´s only telefonica who has the logistics. I have been providing technical support for Jazztel and Orange including Telefonica for the past 3 years for internet and phone connections (Left the teaching field after finally breaking the barrier by accident). Mostly all Telcos have to past through Telefonica since they have not invested much in wiring Spain. Can you imagine the cost! Some areas are wired with fiber optics but again not most of the areas, hence all telcos uses Telefonicas infrastracture. Another reason is that they (other telcos) depend on TESA for other logistics even to check phone lines that have been cut for whatever reason.
100 percent of the time once the phone line is restored internet connection doesn´t work as when the technician call the main switch they do not connect the internet connection so clients have to call to have them connect that. For TESA it normally takes very little time and the response time is fast unlike other telcos which could take ages. (WOW! horror stories literally.)

Anyway, monthly bills go up to 102 euros a month with the trio but no regrets. It´s Better paying a slightly higher fee than suffering an ordeal. (You can imagine the horror stories and I wouldn´t like to deal with the matter.)

Incidentally Jer, Always watch for comercials of imagenio every year they entice new users hence they give 3 months of reduce pricing. This is the time I start calling them and guess what buddy! They reduce my billing to the same offer they provide new users. "El que no llora no mama". They want to keep you as a customer so they give you the same offer. After all buddy and As I remember 7 years ago in one of your thread you mentioned that if you hear telefonica it "Sends chills through your spine". I Think they have come of age at this point in time because of competition.

I have been lured by other telcos but I don´t switch at all.

Anyway that´s it.

Regards.

We've had imagenio for the past 2 years and we are quite pleased with it. It's gets a bit flaky at times so you need to do the occasional soft (hit reset button) or hard boot, unplug the thing and that usually does the trick. My only complaint is biography isn't OV cry

As an interesting aside had several Americans move here and they bought there TVs over and rather surprising they work here. Reason is price, TVs are about 50% cheaper states side.
