hey nomi, thanks for the update. you are on the money!!! there was an expose the other day on tv about how hard it is to "darte de baja" (cut off service) with the telcoms here. it was amazing (but not a surprise) the lengths they go to to keep you with them or in limbo. one thing i do not understand is if you have no adsl provider (which is so in you case), you should be able to contract any adsl you want. you say that telefonica will not let them have the line but there is no line to let them have. the adsl is simply a service that is laid over your analogical line with telefonica. unless you have another adsl provider now, there is no line to be given over. you may want to swallow your pride and just do it with telefonica. normally i would not advise this but you seem so frustrated. i personally have a problem i see on the horizon with my office line. my analogical line is dead as of 2 days ago and my ya.com adsl was acting up (dropping a LOT and then coming back). i called telefonica to complain and they took my info and said i have to wait 24-48 hrs. before it is officially considered an problem ( ). i then called ya.com about the on and off internet and they said it is due to the fact that... 1) i had not upgraded my router firmware to the latest version. 2) my landline was down. whaddayaknow! i upgraded the firmware and it is almost perfect now now a tech guy from ya.com said i may experience a problem with the adsl when telefonica fixes the landline. this is the first time i find myslef hoping that a tech guy has no clue what he is talking about. i must add however that the customer service i have received from ya.com during this problem has been professional, courteous and exemplary. also, it would seem the whole problem was due to telefonica to begin with and the problems with the analogical line. by the way, i got a call this afternoon from the folks at jazztel. ena answered and they wanted to sell us a change to them and their 20mb adsl. NO THANKS!!! my home adsl is great and i never have probs with it so they called the wrong guy! depending on how the office thing pans out, i may be calling jazztel for that line. saludos, jer...

Thanks, Jer. Makes me feel better.
Yeah, I don't know how it's possible that this is happening if we don't have dsl either. We got cut from Ya.com in December and cancelled our order with Arrakis in January. Like I said, I think Telefonica isn't approving it because they want us to sign up for dsl with them. I think that with ya.com, they didn't actually have to sign over the line and it was with Telefonica before, so that might be part of the issue. I really don't know.
What Tele2 said is that, if Telefonica rejects their requests without an excuse, after 12 days they can make a demand against Telefonica. However, the problem is that Telefonica is making excuses, even if they are invalid.
Either they are rejecting us on purpose or my luck just really sucks, lol. I'm thinking it's the former. Anyhow, maybe we really should just go with Telfonica like you say. I'm pretty much to the point where I really don't care which company it is as long as we have it working.
Good luck with getting your line fixed too. I'll cross my fingers for you!

ok, i am not justifying telefonica in any way but if you cancelled with arrakis on january 6, it could be taking this long for them to cancel your order (things move SLOW here) and hence the "two companies trying to get the line at once" bullcrap telefonica is saying. as for what you can do here, maybe you could contact the folks at www.aui.es or look around the site to find some info. i never use my landline at the office, only use it to have adsl and to use my eurodirect phone cards to call clients abroad so my bill is always just the basic line rental. maybe that is why telefonica cut it but are not admitting it, i never spend any money with them sounds funny but they call every once in a while (my office and home) to ask if the line is ok since it has no usage for international calls (must know i am a guiri from my name). i just tell them i only use it for my family to be able to call me (they don't need to know about eurodirect). man are they thorough when it comes to finding out why you are not spending nomi, you are a web designer right? can i ask you how you have been able to survive the last 2-3 months without the adsl? i would not survive a week oh, you may want to look into the "vodafone mobile connect" pcmcia card. it is 70 euros/month on contract for up to 1gb/month data transfer but MAN does it come in handy when your adsl is down or when you need to connect outside of your home/office. i have one and am hence NEVER without internet connectivity. even if my home adsl and my office adsl went down at the same time, i would have the trusty mobile connect card to save the day. saludos, jer...

Why not try getting your internet service through the electric company? Both Iberdrola and Union Finosa offer internet. Then if they do not have coverae in your area you can start from scratch with Jazztel. All you have to do is contact them to see if they cover your area yet.

Thanks, guys! Yeah, thought about that. We actually called Arrakis today casually asking that we'd like to know the status of our order without mentioned the cancellation. They answered that it was cancelled on the 6th right away, so I don't think it was that. quote: as for what you can do here, maybe you could contact the folks at www.aui.es or look around the site to find some info. I can't even begin to say how much this has affected business. Something extreme, hence the total frustration, lol. quote: oh, you may want to look into the "vodafone mobile connect" pcmcia card. it is 70 euros/month on contract for up to 1gb/month data transfer but MAN does it come in handy when your adsl is down or when you need to connect outside of your home/office.

Thanks for the suggestion. Do I need a mobile phone for that? I threw mine away years ago, lol. Just didn't ever use it. Yes, thought of this too, but can't get coverage where I am. I'm in a small village outside of Madrid and nada. Jazztel doesn't offer coverage either for some weird reason. We used to have cable, telephone, and the dsl line through Madritel when we lived in Madrid, which was a great deal. I really miss them... Nomi

Hey everyone,
Updating again. Well, we finally got the dsl service today, yay!!
Now, for what happened. When we first signed up with Tele2, we tried to do it online and it didn't go through all the way. So, we called and got connected with Communitel, assuming that they are the same company. We didn't hear anything later at all from Tele2, but got a welcome letter and router from Communitel.
So, we learnd today that the online request for Tele2 actually went through and that we were live with them and that the companies really are separate, but just work together for dsl, huh?
So, anyway, we now have our dsl back and that's why telefonica was getting two requests from 2 different companies.
Thank God that's over. Now, for the service from Tele2. I have the say that the customer support is good, but the line is not. We could only sign up for the 1mb service in our area and it's pretty slow. Also, we are having many problems with the smtp and sending of emails.
Sure beats dial up though!
