Did anyone besides me hear on National Public Radio news that Sr. Aznar said the following at some kind of international povery conference, unaware that his mike was on, "What a load of crap!" ??? Does this mean(assuming I heard correctly) that he has no burden for the poor in the world, or was the speaker a windbag, or what???

Jer, I imagine you can access NPR on the net. I listened to and from work when I taught, don't tune them in as often, though I very much enjoy the BBC from 9-10 on Michigan Radio from U of M(Go Blue!)

Sue you heard half right but the funny part was that the speaker that he said had just spoke a boring load of crap (more or less) was none other then HIMSELF.

Yep, after his speech he did not know that the mic was still on and he said "menudo coazo acabo de soltar yo" ("what a boring load of crap I just said") Eeker

I wonder if the simultaneous translators left it in for all to understand.

Saludos,
jer...

That was the funniest thing!
I personally like the fact that Mr. Aznar himself IS AWARE OF how boooring these guys' speeches usually are.
Although I'm sure he must be wishing he had used the word 'rollo' instead of the less politically correct 'coazo'!!! Don't you think Jer? Wink

(I would translate 'coazo' as a bore rather than "crap".)

Well, it's a wise man who knows when he's spewed a mouthful of logorrhea. Can it be as it is here that Spanish politicians don't write their own speeches?

I wonder how many attendees nodded in agreement?
