I know that most of you couldn't care less about it but I'm absolutely stoked to finally live in a country that loves football. So tomorrow starts the World Cup and I don't have la Sexta channel! cry Does anyone know where one could watch the cup matches? And I don't mean just the ones where Spain is playing, or pubs that would show only England games. I mean ALL games. Maybe I should just go to the bar in my building and ask?
Maybe this is not the right forum to ask... sorry if thats the case.

Ola eres futbolera?

I haven't la Sexta neither, but I think you could see it in almost all the bares. Tonight there is a match Poland-Ecuador...
Or you are supporting the USA?

Salu2,
Angel.

Ola,

I'm sure most bars will be showing all games, if they haven't got La Sexta, I'm sure they'll have Canal Digital which is also covering the matches.

Tonight a few of us are going down to Locos por el fútbol in Principe Pio (Inside the commercial centre in the station) to watch the opening games and then tomorrow we plan to go to Moores in Tribunal (Calle Barcelo) to watch the England v Paraguay game, there should be a carnival atmospehere there, well amongst the English fans obviously. The Scots, Welsh and Irish will be in a corner sulking and supporting whoever is playing England as usual big grin

Maybe see you later.

Cheers EP

Thanks EP - I will join you one of these days to watch a game.

Angel, you are oh SO funny! nah nah Of course I know there is a match Poland-Ecuador tonight which is why I was panicking that I don't have la Sexta.

Personally I think US should be banned from playing in the World Cup since they have no fans to support them! wink

hey Ola.

at my apt. la sexta comes in really snowy but for as little as 60 euros, you can get a tdt receiver and tune it in perfectly.

i just bought a tdt receiver today and hope to set it up tonight. i got it to tune in some other new channels like telecinco estrellas that is putting on a lot of u.s. tv series. and now i will even get to watch the sopranos since rumor has it that it is on la sexta.

saludos,
jer...

My condolences Ola--I think I now understand why all the South American guys in the bar where we were hanging out last night started spontaneously giving each other high-fives...

P.S. Translation for jer: poland lost to ecuador.

Thank you Mariposita. Yes, exactly, lost 0:2 and in a really bad style, it was just dreadful. A repeat from 4 years ago. We waited 4 years for this event and after the first day and we can pack and go home.
Even the waiter in the cafe downstairs was giving me a hard time yesterday since he knows where I'm from - of course he's Ecuadorian...

I heard that Team USA got its arse kicked by the Czech Republic. Too bad we're all too ignorant about soccer to know how humilated we should feel...

Um, I'm not. It was absolutely humiliating. The announcers were laughing the entire time. I prefer to believe that the U.S. simply has a strategy -- take it easy during the first game and then come out fighting for the next two.....I hope. I mean, it was BAD.
