What is the difference between licenciado universitario and diplomado universitario?

Hi Schwendy,

"Licenciado" generally means a 5-year degree, and "Diplomado" refers to a 3-year degree.

However, I think the system will be changing very soon. Not sure exactly when, but it has to do with the implementation of a common higher-education system throughout the EU.

Incidentally, most academic programs consider a US bachelors degree to be equivalent to a diplomatura and a masters to be equivalent to a licenciatura... God help you if you have to explain that you did a double major (Political Sciences/Languages here).
