I read in a post by amferro back in March, I believe, that a driving instructor had said that it is possible to take an automatic transmission exam in Spain. After 15 years of driving in the US, we have come back to live in Andalucia, and my International Licence has now expired. I don´t know how to use a stick shift- at least not in city traffic, very well- and it just isn´t practical to do the auto-escuela thing right now. Does anyone know how I could find out about taking the test with an automatic? I own one, and it is the only car I would use anyway. I have tried to find out locally, but (surprise) the owner of our auto-escuela in town insists that this is not an option. Any help on the subject would be much appreciated! Elizabeth in Jimena

ok, if i were you i wuld go to the dgt (direccion general de trafico) in your town (or in a bigger town closeby if there is none in yours) and ask around.
Many thanks, I´ll do that...I am a bit concerned,´though, since we had a lot trouble getting reliable information from the La Linea National police when we first tried to get our European Community cards (my husband´s English). Let´s hope the Dirección General de Tráfico are more on top of things! E.
