Hey lin-san, hmmmmm... got that "blood, sweat and tears" comment but let's not let this turn into a swedish language board Wink That's what www.multisweden.com is for, jejejeje Red Face

Great comment on getting a job at IKEA here, there are 3 of them very close to Madrid and I have been many times but have yet to see a Swedish person working there Frowner But as you may know, the IKEA furniture is "designed in Sweden" but made in China Eeker

As for ENFOREX, I have done some web design work for the owner and he is nice, his school seemed very proffesional to me as far a sI could tell but I never took classes there.

I agree that the housing is SUPER "CARO" (EXPENSIVE!!!) and hearing Shawn's (Redwood) stories about the doors not locking, NO WAY! I am a trusting guy but not THAT trusting Roll Eyes

I do not have any experience with Don Quijote but it looks like a very proffesional outfit as well. I DO know that =elemadrid= is a quality school

All in all, some will like their schools and others will not, that is totally normal and good since we are not all clones.

As for the speaking of English in the classroom, it is my opinion as a Spanish teacher (or ex) that no self respecting Spanish for foreigners school (especailly in Spain) will have teachers use English beyind the first few days. They usually set the rules in English and then it is 100% Spanish from there on in to creat an atmosphere more conducive to learning the language.

Have fun and check back with us during your stays here in Spain.

Saludos,
jer...

oh jer, I'm sorry about the swedish sentence, honestly, I didn't do it on purpose, I just had a terrible long day and my head is dizzy, having my 11 last days in Sweden I have to work, spend time with my love ones and prepare my trip at the same time, I'm tired.

As for IKEA, I've heard it's easy for swedes to get a job there in Spain, but I have to talk better spanish first, but after a month I will probably go there for a a job. And H&M and Make Up Store are also in Madrid now, great for me, but I doubt I will get a job just because I'm swedish, on Ikea maybe but not on H&M and Make Up Store.

Anyway,no more swedish, I promise Roll Eyes

Jejeje, I will let it slide this time Big Grin

You can ask ena (my gal :l: ) about H&M, they have 2 stores here, one right off Puerta del Sol on Calle Preciados (ladies clothes only) and the other near Metro Goya (guys & gals clothes).

Never heard of "Make Up Store" but will ask ena when she gets home.

Funny that it is easy for Swedes to get work at IKEA her since it seems that there are none working there, you could be the first. If you can and want to, definitley use your "in" as a Swede to get a job there. Every little bit helps!

wow jer, is it "in" to be swede in Spain, trust me, I will use it, haha!

Well, the IKEA thing, my friend in Barcelona works at IKEA, and she said that they love when swedes work there because it gets more "exotic" and more "swedish", plus that we can actually pronounce the names of the furniture Big Grin

The reason to why you don't see many of us in the stores are probably because the most people don't think about to search for a job thre, well, I didn't until I heard that I really should go there from my friend in barca. And working in IKEA is not very "flashy" I guess the most choose to work as a bartender or in a spanish tienda becuase it's a part of the whole "moving to another country" experience, I just want to have more money.

An jer, is the closest IKEA to Madrid far away from the center? Don't like to move long distances when I'm not having my car with me Roll Eyes

Hey Linda, jejejejeje, as far as I know it is in to be a Swede anywhere you go. The Swedish women are famed to be very beautiful as you may know Big Grin

As for the nearest IKEA here in Madrid, see the IKEA thread HERE (we at multimadrid cover it all Big Grin ). There is a bus to get there from the Plaza Castilla, see the thread.

OK, some feedback about enforex....

Ive been in the school a while now, and I must say, I LOVE the school. The teachers are great, Ive learned so much since Ive got here. I can agree that the books dont explain all the grammar, but, thats because the books are served more as a workbook with exercises, we have special handouts and the teacers explains the grammar.

Anyway, its a great school, everyone Ive talked to there loves it. And if youre going here for a short while with the intend of learning spanish as fast as possible I really think you should live with a spanish family. Many of my Enforex friends do that and they love it!

I am glad that you enjoy Enforex. That goes to show you that everyones' experiences are different. Learn as much Spanish as possible and enjoy the experience.

I studied at Enforex for 6 weeks last summer. It was my first experience at a language school, and I was pretty happy. I was pleased to know that it is part of Kaplan who preps people for those crappy standarsized tests to get into American schools. Anyway, My class was 2 hours of grammar and 2 hours of conversation. In the 6 weeks I probably had 4 different teachers. This was good and bad. Good because I get to hear different accents, but bad because it showed that the school was a bit disorganized with their teachers. My conversation teacher were wonderful!!! They made learning a lot of fun. When I went I just graduated college and was really sick of school and studying. At Enforex I did not feel like I was in college or forced to study. I did my homework, which I fely like I was back in high school. Overall, the academics of Enforex were above average. The best part about the school were the students. Maybe I got lucky, but the people in my classes were great. I now have friends all over the world and encountered many different cultures and people I would not have had the opportunity to become friends with (and I grew up in Los Angeles where we are very diverse.) The school is on the more expensive side, but I felt like I got my money's worth. I would definately go back to Enforex...and I did for a GRE class at Kaplan; eventhought I never want to go to grad school. Big Grin
