Does anyone know of cooking classes given in San Sebastian ? A friend's daughter is studying there and would like to take some extra courses and acquire more Spanish in this way.

Hey Bedar, welcome to the group!

Great timing! Long time Member Sue Yurick has been leading a culinary tour in San Sebastin for the past 3 weeks or so and she is going to be at our multimadrid BarBQ tomorrow in Segovia Big Grin

I am sure she will pop in here and give you all sorts of advice and I will remind her tomorrow when I see her at the Q.

Saludos,
jer...

The school with which I am most familiar, Lus Irzar, Calle Mari 5, San Sebastian, runs professional cooking classes(2 year program) from October through June. They have a waiting list! They also have short summer programs(to which I have brought clients under the auspices of PataNegra...see their website at www.patanegra.net...) However, Virginia Irizar has directed some folks to a place called "El Txoko del Gourmet"(the gourmet's corner)which is near La Bretxa market and Aitor Lasa deli/grocery, I think. Will try to get more info for your daughter, whom I envy to pieces. What a great spot to study!

Here's more info:

Outside of San Sebastian, in Zarauz, there is the Academia Aiala, run by Karlos Arguiano(Spain's TV chef, very popular). They also have leisure time courses, but only in the summer.
You can find out more http://www.karlosnet.com/Karlos/academia.shtml

It's all in Spanish, but your daughter can have a look.
