Hi,
I sort of lost track of this thread, sorry for not answering Jer, I would have loved to wear the mm colors, on the other hand, one never knows what the weather is going to do the day of the marathon or if a particular shirt will feel extremely lucky that day, so I wouldn't want to promise on what to wear, however, if you get something like bumper stickers or some kind of pegatina that would stick to whatever I'm wearing I would certainly do that. Baseball caps would be great too, good if it rains or if it's sunny, we got a plan for next year then.
Speaking of the media, there used to be this Sunday morning program called En Accion on Telemadrid and they would do pretty good coverage of sports activities in Madrid, all the popular races and such. I haven't seen it in a while so I guess they must have changed the day/time or canned it. Too bad, they will really have to espabilar if they want a shot at the Olympics.
For the fellow runners, look out for As magazine, the day after they do have extra pages with some pictures and the initial results (yeah, you can see your name and place), some of the big papers might have it too. The Mapoma web page will also post picts and places and their magazine also does quite a bit so it's a nice souvenir to get.
So, Jer, next Sunday, where can we look out for you and wave at your camera? Anybody else going to be taking pictures? Let us know where you'll be and we can try and make contact, actually, you should be the ones wearing the mm t-shirts or stickers so we can find you, even if you look out for us and know what we look like it will be difficult to see us with all the people running, if we know where you are then we can look out for you. Anyway, just make sure I look good and sexy on those pictures, I don't want to see me sweating, tongue hanging out or throwing up on the web later!
Someone asked about how long it takes, it all depends on the speed you run. The race, I think, is open for 6 hours, I plan to finish in under 5. If you don't have much experience with long races the most important thing is don't start too fast or you'll get exhausted before you finish, so start out nice and slow, a very comfortable pace, if you're feeling good after the first half then speed up a bit. It really comes down to mind over matter (body, tired legs, etc)
Good luck to all the runners. Happy running!!
Lena
