I've heard "techo solar" among Latin Americans. I suppose moon roof could be "techo lunar," but I've never heard that (not sure I know what that is in English, actually).

"Sun roof" = techo solar, that's right. But there's no 'techo lunar' in Spanish... and I haven't heard the term in English either (and I work as a translator for car dealerships Confused )

i think in spanish they are all called "techo solar" but in english the word moonroof does exist.

a suroof is generally tinted glass and opens up verically to let in air. it is meant to block the powerful sun. it is a type of hatch.

a moonroof is generally an electric sliding glass and metal (part of the car roof) cover that opens (slides) horizontally, opening a hole in the roof of a vehicle.

i think the terms are pretty interchangeable though.

saludos,
jer...

p.d. or maybe it has to do with the mood one is in...

 moonroof = romantic :jeje:

A sunroof in a car is see-through, usually made of clear or tinted plastic but can slide open. Typically also has a cover, most times manual but can also be mechanical, to close out the sun when it gets too hot, as is the case here in NM.

A moonroof is mechanical and is made of the same material as the vehicle, so the sun will not come through. It can open fully, without a cover or can tilt up to let in the air.

Having worked for an insurance claims department for many years, the two terms are not interchangeable.

Gracias por su ayuda. En Mexico se dice "quemacoco" para sun roof.
