"mullet" in Spanish. And I just bring it up because Spain is frickin' overloaded by mullet heads...In fact, I'm thinking about going on a photographic rampage for one of my favorite sites:

I hadnt noticed, but it is a cool hairstyle, I had one as a 12 year old I remember.

In spanish there doesnt seem to be a word for it, but maybe I should ask a barber. The best that my spanish colleages and I can do is:

- Corte de pelo a lo jincho

- Corte de pelo a lo mullet

- Corte de pelo a lo heavy

But it always seems be be more a description than a real translation.

Pr0x1mo, what you found were translations for the mullet fish:

http://www.britannica.com/eb/article?eu=55590&tocid=0

mjol and lisa = grey mullet
salmonete = red mullet

Quick question:

What precisely does "dar de baja" mean in the context of a website advertising e-learning?

I think I know what "dar de alta" means which is "register".

Thanks.

Several things:

-I have seen plenty of those hair cuts: Jer, you definitely don't visit the proper sites ;-)

-thanks for the translation of "red mullet": I had it for last Saturday's dinner, and I forgot looking in the dictionary when I got home,

-eventually, "dar de baja" is, of course, just the contrary to "dar de alta": for example, "dar de alta" is the thing you do when you get a phone line, and "dar de baja" when you communicate the phone carrier that you stop using that line; I hope that this helps.

I believe dar de alta is "to give the green light" to a registration or subscription and "dar de baja" is to cancel said registration or subscription.

I have noticed that, at leat in Madrid, the Dreadlocked Mullet is quite popular.

And dont tell me nobody here has seen em!

By the way, anyone else see Gandolph the wizard from Lord of the Rings walking around Madrid? He doth lurketh in Malasaa...oh, and Plaza Mayor...

Roland, "dar or darse de baja" is much more general than just using it for subscriptions.

you can use it to say you are canceling pretty much anything (aside from the phone line, subscription, etc... mentioned above).

for example an "autnomo" (individual business person) can "darse de baja" and stop being an autnomo.

once you know what it means in general terms, it is easy to figure it out for each context it is used in.

on a related note, "la baja mdica" is translated as "sick leave" (in case anyone was wondering).

saludos,
jer...
