My job as a tour rep is seen as definitely not real! After all I only play with the tourists don't I!!!

blush Don't want to steal this thread but, madsue, that sounds like a great job to me!

I agree wih you though, especially if you work with the public- clients, students, whatever -it does show if you don't love what you do! And, it's not fair to them if you aren't giving it your all.

All in all, life is what you make it. If you hate your job an think that the pay is low, that's what you'll find in life.

Just another quick point related to jobs...

How much you earn PER YEAR is a pointless statistic. The important factor is how much you earn PER HOUR.

I know this may sound obvious, but so many people only focus on yearly earnings.

e.g Let's say that Jim earns $100,000 and Bob earns $50,000 per year.

Jim may seem more wealthy.

But if Jim is doing a life crushing 80 hour week and Bob works 2 hours per day, then Bob is a LOT more wealthy.

I plan on retiring in 2 years. I will be 27 years old. Will I be a millionaire by then? No! But if you get out of the rat race and focus on quality of life and earnings per hour, then it can be done.

Good point, deano. I have decided not to become attached to money or material things. I have no need in life to accumulate or have things that show my "status" in life. So, as long as my needs are met, I am a happy camper.
