This is a little blurb (como se dice 'blurb' en Espanol?) Red Face that I wrote to include in cover letters. Can someone tell me if it makes ANY sense whatsoever? My Spanish is developing, but I still have to think in English and translate, so it often makes NO sense.
Have a hack at it. If this is inappropriate, Jer, please give me an e-slap, and I promise not to do it again!

Estoy trabajando actualmente en la investigacin y desarrollo. I'm surprised Jer hasn't answered this one, he must be busy. As someone who often has to read technical covering letters I can say that your text makes sense. However, I have no idea what your technical terms mean. If you really wanted to change it (thus not making it your original 'blurb') I would just change a few things structurally.

I have heard Spanish complain about it the number of commas in a paragraph (common in texts from the US). I agree with this, short sentences means the reader doesn't get bored. Also as with any language don't repeat words, more words suggest knowledge of the language which I would guess is something you want to put forward. My suggestion would be:

Trabajo actualmente en investigacin y desarrollo. Tengo 12 aos de formacin y experiencia profesional en el rea cientfico, trabajando extensamente con los animales grandes y pequeos. Mis conocimientos incluyen cultura de clula, microbiologa y diagnstico, diseo de pantalla y puesta en prctica. Adems tengo conocimientos del uso de informtica profesional.

Good luck with the job hunt.

Cheers,

Ian

Ian,

Muchas gracias for your input! I had no idea about the commas. I shall be more vigilant in the future. I also noticed that I conjugaged a few words incorrectly. :b:
I really appreciate your taking the time. Oh, and by the way, the technical terms mean cell culture, screen design and microbiology. I hope I selected the right words for that!

Hello

I am a new member or the forum.

I assume that "screen design" is a biological term
and not means "web screen design". If it is so maybe it is better to leave it in English.

The text would be:

Trabajo actualmente en investigacin y desarrollo. Tengo 12 aos de formacin y experiencia profesional en el area cientfica, trabajando extensamente con animales grandes y pequeos. Mis conocimientos incluyen cultivo celular, microbiologa y diagnstico, diseo de pantalla y puesta en prctica. Adems tengo conocimientos de informtica profesional.

I don't know what "diseo de pantalla y puesta en prctica" means to a biologist, but I hope that it makes sense.
