Jer, you know all about this, and I think I sent you a "then and now" photo. My fellow exchange student and two semester roommate, Becki, saw a post about the Palacio de Deportes burning down, and realized the poster must be me! Did she marry a Spaniard, as we both thought we would? Nope, but her husband shares her passion for the country. They have been back several times, and this summer she is going with her parents and daughter along as well. She hasn't posted yet, but she was tickled to find this site.
We got together last Friday on her side of the state of Michigan; next time will be over here with another friend who DID marry a Spanish guy but wound up living here.
So very, very nice to reacquaint with someone who knew me when and who knows why I am a "Spain nut".
Go ahead and post the photo, even though it blows my outdated glamor shot profile picture's credibility.

Well, looking back, the reunion didn't really rekindle our friendship as I had hoped. A bit too much distance time and geographically. If you are imaging that we two redheads really took Madrid by storm in 1962, I love being able to tell you that there was a whole family of redhaird Spaniards a block behind us on Calle O'Donnell. Not only that, but I met one of them all grown up studying medicine at the U of M in about 1964! Small, small world.

I just thought I'd say I liked the pictures! What a neat thing to be reunited with your old pal you went to Madrid with!
Remember when we met at a multimadrid BBQ and I had my Old Mission Michigan sweatshirt on? We'll be in O.M. Michigan (Traverse City) for at least a few days in August. Can't wait.
Take care,
Val

How could I forget, Val? Hope you have a great visit in one of the best spots in Michigan. Don't forget to visit Cherry Republic! I need to start nagging my husband for an "up north" roadtrip.... Shrimp and beer at the Bluebird in Leland. A couple of winery visits...
