...I love Madrid, plain and simple. I miss the ham, cheese, cuba libres and women in impossibly tight pants. I miss the Parque del Retiro and the wild Spanish cats. I miss the dogs who all seemed a little happier than LA pooches. I miss the beauty of the city and its' fashionable citizens. I miss Kapital and Joy Eslava. I miss early mornings with Antena 3's Batman in Spanish and Megatrix (bailando con Cristina Cerezo in particular...). I miss coffee and grilled toast with breakfast. Madrid "..de puta madre."

Hey ironsuitcasem, tell me about it! I could go on forever about Madrid but it is hard to find someone to listen for such a long time Big Grin

The dogs here are probably happier because there are the infamous "wild cats", like an all you can eat buffet for them!

Hope to meet ya next time you come over.

Saludos,
jer...

I hear you...well, all except the part about Spanish women in tight pants..not really my deal, you see.

I miss going out all night long, and being able to walk back home afterwards - then sleeping hard the next day during a lovely afternoon siesta. I miss good, cheap red wine, old buildings and cobblestone streets.

To ease my ache for spain, I get together sometimes with some for dinner here in L.A. with other Spain lovers at Spanish restaurants (and check every Spain related website constantly). Nobody else understands!!

ironsuitecasem,

What the "Kapital" you are referring to? Could it possibly be the dance club I have been searching for, for the last 4 months???

If it is, please send me any more information you have on it.

Thanks

Hey Ben, most people know about Kapital and it's 7 floors of sheer... welll EVERYTHING!

The disco/club is at the end of the calle Atocha and if you get off the METRO at "Atocha" (Blue #2 line from Sol), you can't miss it, it is right next to McDonalds.

They place the occasional ad in tourist guides and mags here in Madrid and are mentioned on many Madrid websites but not having their own website makes them a bit hard to locate on the WWW. I guess they know that since most people know who and where they are, they need not advertise much. Besides, I think their main clientel are Spaniards and the crowd is usually of the teenybopper persuasion although there is a bit of everything there.

Have fun Big Grin

jer...

Thanks for the reply!

I was there over the summer and I regret not getting more info on what I was doing, so I could do it again, but I'm glad I have found out. When I was at the Kapital, the top floors were closed, but I had alot of fun anyway. There seemed to be quite a few american tourists there (I went at the end of June) and I had alot of fun.

I did include a link above to the only page I have found that mentions the Kapital so far.
If anyone has any other recommendations for dance clubs around Madrid, please let me know.

Thanks
