I spent almost 2 years in Madrid as a student back in 1973. I've been to Spain several times since 2000, but have never returned to Madrid.

I rememeber how even the young women of our goup could safely walk home from the bars in the Plaza Mayor late at night. I guess all that's changed... I wonder if anything has changed for the better? Would it be worth a stop next trip down that way? What should I check out if I visit?

hey Sr. Natch, welcome to the board.

no, things have not changed that much. we still see young women crossing the plaza mayor alone late at night.

as for what to see and/or do in madrid, that is an impossible question to answer as there is sooooo much.

spend some time on this board and you will get a lot of good ideas.

saludos,
jer...
