I love it when smokers throw their butt on the ground and leave it smoking--their break may be over, but their cigarette keeps the party going for any passive smokers who might be in the area... thoughtful. It's sad, but I was just relieved to find out that I can still take Oscar to our local smoking cutre-bars, tapas joints and cafes (kids can go to all smoking places, but can't hang out in the smoking section set aside in a bigger restaurant/bar). Not that I want to pollute his lungs too much (too late for me, my mom smoked kool--yes kool--cigarettes throughout my entire childhood) but the kid would never get to eat the best churros in our 'hood if it weren't from a smoking place...

I read the new law closer today and as always the Spanish government has stifled themselves and made this new law with no teeth as they made it totally conditional and are giving people more than 6 months to fix up their places and comply. I hope that this does not just stir the waters and create more conflicts between the self centered smokers who are thoughtlessly harming more than just themselves and the non-smokers who are just trying to defend themselves. We shall see what will happens.
