nothing is supposed to "pop up" but if you mean that your shout was not published, it is probably safari, use FIREFOX.

i know it works with mac since Candela also has a g4 powerbook and has sent shouts a few times.

not sure what browser she is using but you can see her latest shout...

Not true. Safari is the default browser for most Mac users. Then comes Firefox, then IE. If you want to accommodate Mac users then you have to program with Safari in mind. There are so many web browsers out there that, as Jer observes, adjusting for all of them runs up against the law of diminishing returns. The real pain in the neck is that the majority of Internet users use I.E. which is among the worst of the pack when it comes to following web standards (and pissing off its users). This leads tons of web designers to "break" their pages to work around the bugs in I.E. It is possible to create I.E. compatible pages that follow web standards to the letter and thus allow it to work on Safari, Firefox, etc., but it requires a bit more effort.

Anyway the "shouts" work quite well on Safari and Firefox so no problems there that I can see. The calendar works well in Firefox but is not visible in Safari.

One thing I did notice is that you can 'shout' without being logged in. Personally, I'd only allow registered users to shout as it could lead to people sending inappropriate shouts without any identifier.

Is anybody else having a problem with disappearing shout's? cos I put one in last night, right after one by Nanny, and it went missing this afternoon, after I made sure that it was showing in the text window, by refreshing it, then again, later today, I submitted another shout, and it too suddenly disappeared before my eyes, and one of Jer's came up! Is it a general fault on the board, or is it just me? I always double check anything that I post/submit, to make sure that it is being displayed, and so don't understand what is going on here.
Anybody else having any problems submitting their shouts? Jer, any ideas on this one?

as far as i know, shouts can only disappear if i delete them and i have not deleted any.

next time, make a screengrab (print screen and then save the image via photoshop or other design program) of your shout as published and send it to me. then, if it disappears i will look into it.

Ok, I win the mobile geek prize for sending a shout to the Shoutbox from my mobile phone!

That's right! My new, Jer enhanced Z800i (formerly the Vodafone crippled v800) send a shout straight from its browser! Woo HOO!

Now to see if I can get it read the board messages properly.

ok, this board software is not compatible with pda's (yet) so while one cannot visualize the forums on a pda, they can open the shoutbox directly.

in case anyone wants to do this, to open the shoutbox and shout out from your mobile and/or pda, go to http://spaintalk.multimadrid.org/eveshout/eveshout.php in your handset and just use the shout box.

well, sadly allowing non-members to post lasted less than 2 months as today i have made the shoutbox registered members only.

did not want to do it but a person (we can just call him [X]) decided to go and insult a member and forced my hand

so, from now on only logged in members will see and be able to use the input box for the shoutbox while all guests will only be able to read the shoutbox.

oh yeah, i also changed the shouts that show in the box from 20 to 50 so if you use the scrollbar on the right of the shoutbox, you can scroll up and read up to the last 50 shouts
