Hey Sue, ya just beat me to it. I was about to post on the cam problem. Ok, I returned to Madrid today from my 2 week rejuvinating vacation at the beach to find that the PlazaCam lasted through the 2 weeks of nobody around to keep it in line but last night there was a major balck out in the Plaza and a ower surge knocked out my UPS (Uninterupted Power Supply) and blew the hell out of the power feed on my PC (YES! The DELL! ). Hence, the last image taken by the PlazaCam reads "Mon 7/29/02 1:14:02" Thank God (or Michael Dell) for extended 3 year in situ warranties, the technician is coming on Thursday morning to replace the power supply and/or whatever other parts are screwed . I am pretty sure it is just the power supply since it smells burnt out and no juice gets to the machine at all when I try to light er up. I am tempted to go out and buy a power supply (very inexpensive in general) and replace it myself but that would void the warranty and I do NOT want to do that. So, that is the situation, sorry for the down time but the DELL is 11 months old this week and on 24/7 I guess something was bound to blow sooner or later. Let's just hope my suspicion is right and it is just the power supply. I can't imagine what it must be like for you all to be out of your Plaza Mayor fix Rest assured that I am doing everything within my power to restore it back to its normal harmonious state Saludos, jer...

Totally, you get what ya pay for I guess. Except in this case where I get more than I bargained for since DELL totaly forgot to charge my credit card for the $2,500 price tag of the PC when I bought it online almost a year ago Funny, this was the first real big ticket item I had bought in a loooong time and it ended up being free. Good thing thier billing dept. did not communicate the error to their technical service dept. or they may not have respected the warranty since I they never charged me for it to begin with. I guess the big corps slip up once in a while and the little guy makes out. Suckaaaaaaaaaaaaaas! I am sure they will not feel the hit too harshly as THE biggest computer manufacturer in the world. Let's just say I can stil sleep at night, and late into the morning, and the siesta in the afternoon.... knowing that they never got my cash I think they realized that it was their big fat mistake and just decided to let it slide. SO, hopefully tomorrow the DELL man will come and fix it all up Saludos, jer... p.d. It never ceases to amaze me how a $2,500 machine can crash due to the failing of a $20 insignificant piece of the whole (in this case the power feed)

Hey pitbull (AKA Saenz ), I think you misunderstood me. I offered to correct the problem with DELL but they have still decided not to charge me. I think it had something to do with their accounting and that almost a year later it was not in their best interest to bill over again. Not into big company politics like this so when they said they were not charging the PC to my credit card I did not argue with them, one would have to be an extreme idiot to insist on paying in that situation. Glad I could clear all of that up for you. LONG LIVE ToniG Saludos, jer... p.d. I am very glad that I am "nod wurth pissing on"

I admire you trying to set the accounting straight, Jer. It's funny how that works sometimes. These big mega-companies must pay their bean counters enough so that it would cost them more to revise their books? I consider you the recipient of a gift rather than a thief. As for "pitbull", what a charming nickname for a person with a chip on his shoulder! It's true that professional dishonesty has been in the news and is costing us a bundle (watching our investments drop value in retirement is NO FUN) I don't know if you have been able to see much of Dell's advertising featuring the dippy "Steven" nerd/surfer dude(sort of "Bill and Ted with a computer fixation") but I've grown to like him(even in elf tights at Christmas) Great to know that they service what they sell so promptly, even if they forgot to bill you. And it's great to be able to peek into the Plaza from afar again!

I live within ten miles of the Dell headquarters. I can tell you their service is the best in the business. They are also big contributors to non-profits in this area. Even in tough economic times, they continue their support of good causes. And no, I don't work for them. Just researched a lot before I bought a computer myself. And of course, I bought a Dell. By the way, what is with all these angry people like pitbull They need to get a life. Or grow up.

I hear you all on the DELL thing, they really have their act together as far as I am concerned Sue, DELL does not advertise in Spain (hardly) and I have not had the honor of seeing dippy "Steven" nerd/surfer dude but am curious to see what the advertising gimick is like. Saludos, jer...
