wait.... Wait... WAIT! The 15th candle on the right is not quite right! ARGH!

(inside joke for those who were there)

I'm glad we found a fairly public spot for the candles and thank heavens for no wind. We had to really careful of the uneven ground as a knocked-over candle not only knocked over other candles but would also continue to burn, melting a nasty hole through the plastic container that contained it.

In the end, a success and hopefully a memorable one for those who pass by it. The site is well travelled but not in anyone's way. The camera crew probably got some nice shots of the candle with the dome of Atocha station in the background.

I am with all of you Madrilenos (and you wannabe Madrilenos!) today, not in body, but in spirit.

Paul y Irene, i don't mind you writing in spanish on the english language forums as long as you write it IN ENGLISH AS WELL.

it is simple to write it in both languages and that way nobody will feel left out.

thanks.

I was on the bus passing Atocha station just an hour ago and I saw the display we placed on Friday.

Believe it or not, a number of the candles were still burning bright! 4 days and still burning.

I think it's so cool the Madrilenos left the memorial intact for so long. Not so in Union Square in NYC post-9/11. Even after all the loss, the Vandals and idiots were still goin' strong there.
God bless us every one.
