Hi all, I am starting this thread since many of you are planning trips here and have asked me what I miss from back home and what you can bring me when you come.
Well, first of all, thank you for the offers! It is overwhelming to see that you all want to give me presents
As member jaimemiguel brought me a few Streetwise Madrid Maps last month, my need for them is filled for a while (gracias amigo ) and I will re-post if I ever need more.
So, the maps out of the way, here is a short list for the "Reyes/Reinas Magos/as" ("Wise Men & Women" arounf the world who would liek to bring me a present:
1) Bagels!!!!!!!!! The good kind, the real ones, not the prepackaged "Lenders" or "Dunkin Donuts" immitations but the ones from a good old bagel shop. The New York variety or similiar are my preferred and as for types, any! Especially the "Everything" ones and the classic "Sesamie", "Egg" bagels are also great! We can get those nasty "Dunkin Donuts" and "Lenders" bagels here in Madrid but I miss the real deal A dozen is a great gift (or as many as can fit in your luggage ).
2) "Bisquick" brand pancake mix. The big (or small) yellow box & Aunt Jamima syrup
3) Brownie mix (no nuts), any brand will do.
4) Cheddar cheese. The strong kind (usually comes in #s 1-5 depending on the sharpness). Bring on #4!!!
5) Kellogs Nutri Grain Cereal fruit bars.
6) Welch's or Smuckers Grape jelly (these crazy Spaniards use all their red grapes for wine )
7) ROOT BEER!!!!
8) And the thing I most miss from back home... MY MOMMY
I can get pretty much everything else (ie. Peanut Butter) here at specialty shops.
If I think of anything else I will add it to the list above.
Saludos & thanks for asking. jer..
p.d. I geuss a good New York Pizza would not survive the trip huh
Socooooooooooooorrrrrrrrroooooooooo! (Heeeeeeeeellllllllppppp!) I am suffering from withdrawl, I need a major bagel and Kellogs Nutrigrain cereal bar fix!
Well Jeremy, I won't be going there this year, but please e-mail me you address, I do want to send you Brownie mix for Thanksgiving. How can anyone live without brownies Well you do have the Palmeritas en chocolate y los churros, but still, no brownies, what do you do when you're depressed?

Hello jer matey. I'll be over in less than 2 weeks now. Hurrah! Don't know if we've got the Kellogs nutri grain bars, but we've certainly got other brands - any good for ya?
Hey all, thanks for supporting me in my moments of need
ToniG, you rule!
Booklady, I live in Madrid, we don't get depressed here Spain is the perfect anti-depressant I ran out of the brownie mix that a cell phone rental client brought me a while back I could use some more Will e-mail you my address.
Miggus, I have bought the Kellogs bars in the UK, in a super market called Alsa (sp?) in Portsmouth where my brother lives. Other brands are welcome as well
Easy to bring, those Nutri-Grain bars! I'll definitely bring some over for ya. I'll take what I can fit in my suitcase. I know what it's like to have withdrawls from lack of familar food sometimes. Not that Spanish food isn't brilliant, but how can you beat Nutri-Grain!? At least they keep well.
I'll see what else I can take!

Hey Jer! I know I'm not going to be there until April, but by then I'm sure you'll be needing more. When it gets closer to that time, I'll see if I can hook you up, if we can even get the chance to meet! Until then...

Hey Kristy, AWESOME! Hey, you could always bring an extra suitcase full of NutriGrain Bars and then you would have it to fill with souvenirs when you go back home (if you ever go back )
Sweeeeeeet Smiley! My Spring FIX!!! Hope to meet you in April, even if you can't bring any goodies!
Hey Jer.....being that someone loks like they are sorting you out with Nutri grain things, I can stretch to a lump of cheddar....grade 4?? will be arriving on the 23rd, so i guess we need to hook up that week so i can pass on the holy grail!!!...might be a good opp for a few beers with other members as well? ( as well as a cheeky way for me to meet up with some new people!)
