Hola guys, just been reading this thread and noticed the mention of Cheddar cheese, I was recently on the Costa del Sol and found packs of english cheddar in the Super Sol supermarket, could be because of the demand for it by english tourists and ex-pats though. Are there Super Sol markets in other areas of Spain? Confused

i am a cheese freak myself, and cheddar was something i missed when i was living there, but i did find some at El Campo, at the big mall in Barrio Pilar. i can't remember the name of the mall right now, but i think it is the only indoor mall in the city. the cheese wasn't exactly the same as the cheddar from home, but it worked. hope this helps.

Hey Sue, the Super Sol markets are a name under a much bigger company, read THIS FOR MORE. Seems they even have a stronghold in the Canaries Big Grin

Yeah honning12, I have tried that cheddar but you are right, it is not the same Frowner Does not do it for me. The mall you speak of is called "Madrid2 La Vaguada" or simply "La Vaguada" (Metro: Barrio del Pilar).

For more Alcampos, see the ALCAMPO LOCATIONS THREAD.

They also sell that cheddar at Carrefour supermarkets.

Hiya Mad-Sue, from madsue!!!!! Big Grin As jer said, Supersol has a big following here where it is called Netto in some places!! Loads of prepacked hard cheeses in these supermarkets now. But I am really, really interested in cottage cheese. Did you see that on the Costa del Sol yet? If so, maybe, just maybe thatll be here soon!

hi madsue and jer and honning12, the cheddar was the real thing, made in Gloucester and very yummy. I don't recall seeing cottage cheese, but I am sure they will have it. Netto is big over here too, very cheap even on household goods and electricals. Big Grin

You asked for Devil dogs??? Aren't those the chocolate equivelant of Twinkies?

This thread has got me thinking of what foods I will miss having. I guess I'd better stock up before I leave.
Has anyone noticed that the fritos (even the plain flavor) taste like ham? In fact it seemed like every flavor of chips had a distinct ham flavor to it, aside from the plain potato.

Like the king, I too take hols from the 17 to the 7. WAYHEEEEEEEEE
