jer - I won't be in Madrid until September, but I'll be more than happy to help you re-stock your snack cabinet then. I really appreciate all the help I've gotten from this site.

I'll post closer to my travel dates and see what you need. Smiler (and if it won't fit in my suitcase, I'll ship it over...learning to pack light is killing me, lol)

A word to the Jer Goody Suppliers:
It's perfectly legal to bring peanut butter into Spain, but pack it toward the top of your bag, as it stops the luggage X-ray checkers dead in their tracks. They'll want to open it up and check it.
Because, as I learned at both PIT and JFK and MAD, smooth peanut butter looks just like CemTex plastic explosive in an X-ray image!

I wonder if CemTex sticks to the roof of your mouth? And does it come in Chunky?

Do I have to read the rest of the thread to find out what 'Cheese Zits' are?? They sound kind of icky!

Their not icky, though I personally am not crazy about them. Some countries have something similar, they are simply chedder cheese flavored baked crackers from the States. In our grocery stores there we often have an entire aisle with one side being dedicated to just crackers and cookies. Vegitable flavored, chicken flavored, swiss flavored, etc. Sometimes I miss that variety, but not enough to go back. :jeje:

I think the cheezits from the U.S. are more or less the same as the famous 'RITZ' crackers in the U.K. although I think the Ritz real cheddar cheese crackers are probably even better than cheezits, and in my opinion they beat all the other hands down, closely followed by a brand in the U.K. called TUC which are quite good. The problem in the U.K. is that there a hundred million different makes/brands of cheese flavoured crackers, some taste synthetic, but most taste like real cheese, and the one called Cheddars by Crawfords is pretty good too, but you can give me a plate full of real cheddar cheese RITZ crackers anytime any place, and I'll scoff the lot.

The only problem with eating those things is the fat content, especially the Hydrogenated fat that they tend to use these days, that's what puts me off eating all those products that have got a high percentage of it in them. That stuff is not good for the body at all, and even more so for many people who have various medical problems.

You would do better to just buy plain crackers, or bisquit's made especially for eating cheese with, and then get some decent cheddar or other varieties of cheese, some ploughmans pickle, gherkins, as they're called in the U.K. or dill pickles in the U.S., and Bob's your uncle, as they say in London. You just cant beat the real thing, real home made crackers, and really pungent Canadian cheddar, the kind of stuff that makes the roof of you mouth tingle. Big Grin

Right, that's it, I'm off to the shop to get me some ready for my munchies later tonight.

and then, Back to the records....... :m:

not quite my friend. i can tell you did not grow up in the u.s.a.

half of the fun in the cheez-its is the nostalgia Cool

I don't begrudge Jer a thing that's brought...seeing as I recently shlepped him a jar of Jif that customs mistook for Cemtex plastic explosive! Jer keeps life interesting.

Aside from that, Cheezits ROCK.
And they aren't just Classic cheezits: there are low-fat Cheezits, white-cheddar Cheezits, Hot & Spicy Tobasco Cheezits, Cheezit Party Mix, and Big Cheezits (for putting dip and real cheese on.) The mind boggles!

Reb.
