have been hard at work/play here and finished my classifieds section. still needs some minor tweaking but it is ready for ads!!!
it is at
http://spaintalk.multimadrid.org/classifieds the idea is to get all the job offers, rooms/apts. for rent, stuff for sale, services, etc... over there.
clean up the forums so to speak.
the classifieds section is also a good solution for those who want to plug their services and businesses but are not allowed to on the forums due to my user agreement.
the classifieds are pretty much no holds barred in that sense (but keep it clean).
currently there are only madrid classifieds but i will soon add barcelona, etc...
again, the new classifieds are at
http://spaintalk.multimadrid.org/classifieds and you can get there by clicking the " spain classifieds" section at the top of all of the forum pages.
please have a look at the new section and become farmiliar with the sections.
to use the classifieds, you will have to register (
http://www.spaintalk.multimadrid.org/classifieds/register.php) even if you are already a multimadrid member. reg. is easy however, all you need to do is provide...
- Email address
- Full name
- Password (between 6 and 20 chars)
- Confirm password
- Contact name
... and you are ready to go. once you register and log in there you can go to a "member area" (button on the classifieds menu) and submit ads, manage (edit, renew, etc...) them and control your account.
i require re-registration since not all board members will use the classifieds and not all class. users will use the board.
basically, the diff. between the forums and the classifieds in some cases is explained via the examples below...
1) using books as an example.
CLASSIFIEDS.
if you wanted to sell a book, you would sell it on the classifieds section at "1 - MADRID / FOR SALE / Books/Magazines". you can navegate to that section from the class. home page by clicking "MADRID", then on the next page either "FOR SALE" and then "Books/Magazines" or click directly on the "Books/Magazines" link under "FOR SALE". finally you would click the "Add Ad" link on the classifieds menu near the top of the page.
FORUMS.
if you want to ask about a specific book and/or where in spain to get it, you would use the forums.
2) using jobs as an example.
CLASSIFIEDS.
if you an academy in madrid and want to post a job offer, you would use the classifieds. you would click on "1 - MADRID" and on the next page either click on "JOBS/EMPLOYMENT" and then "Teaching/Education" or click directly on the "Teaching/Education" link under "JOBS/EMPLOYMENT", finally you would click the "Add Ad" link on the classifieds menu near the top of the page.
FORUMS.
if you wanted to ask advice about getting a particular job or about working in spain, you would use the forums.
i hope the above has made clear what the classifieds are for in comparison to the forums.
by the way, there is a personals section in the classifieds 
and you can even upload a photo. it may not be match.com but it's a start 
i encourage all of you to have a look at and start using the classifieds. i know there are hardly any ads there now but hey, there were hardly any threads on this message board when i launched it either, gotta start somewhere.
please ask any questions here and report any bugs/problems as well.
i am also very open to suggestions, for example, any sections i may have overlooked.
