Hi again!

I'm here again after my Holy Week Big Grin and my #@! stomach aches and head aches. Razzer
I've heard a couple of things about East Square last week and I'm not uttlerly sure if these things are true or not. Maybe you know about this topic and can add your knowledges.

Here you are!
1st: The East Square is really in the West part of Madrid. So, why is it called "East" Square?. Because is the name that the people living in the Royal Palace gave to the Square and, the square is in the "East" of the Palace. Confused It can be true or not. I don't know.

2nd: The sculptures of the kings located in this square haven't got a lot of details. They are big and they could have been with more details in their faces and dresses. This is because these sculptures were created to be placed over the roof of the royal palace and people from the square couldn't realize that the sculptures weren't perfectly ended, but, at the end, most of them were placed in East Square and in the Retiro Park.

Bye!

Hey totx, welcome back my man, the board just has'nt been the same without ya Frowner

Glad you had a nice Semana Santita Big Grin Now get back to work ya lazy bum Wink

I had heard about those statues rough finish ("acabado" in English is "finish" or "finished" rather than ended Big Grin ) being due to the fact that they were meant to go on top of the Palace. Makes sense I guess.

On the other hand, you just tought me something new with that PLAZA DE ORIENTE history. I guess with the Royals being the center of the universe and the PALACIO REAL being their home (one of them), it is only fit that everything be named using them as the centerpoint Roll Eyes

Thanks once again for "skoolin' us" on that.

Saludos,
jer...
