I was suprised to see that there are still some remenants of the Moors in Madrid. I know Madrid was founded by them, but I thought all trace of them had dissappeared. Not so, there's part of the old moorish wall left and two churches with "Mudejar" bell towers, which are Christian buildings built in Muslim style. I don't know if anything else is left of them in the city, can anyone else weigh in on this???

Also, the neighborhood of Lavapies and some of the southern suburbs of Madrid have quite a "Moorish" or Moroccan feel to them due to immigration. I would just suggest that one be careful at night in those places, it can get a little rough!

Also, I was wondering if there's anything left of Madrid's old Jewish heritage. Obviously there wouldn't be anyting like there is in Toledo or the cities of Andalucia, but surely something most have survived???

Hey kookynkool, inteeesting topic you have startred.

There is a mosque turned church just behinf the Plaza de Espaa (on the way towards the Templo de Debod) and one can tell from afar that it was certainly a moorish building.

I will try to get a photo and the name of it soon.
