"the man!"

Hi Pierre, jer here. Wow, first off let me congratulate you on your impending trip to the "promised land" and your exchange semesters here. I had a friend (now long lost and out of touch) who attended the "Universidad Pontificia Comillas" here and he enjoyed his stay and the quality of the program. He was in a "Foreigners Study Program" so that may be different that what you have been offered. I am sure you already know this but the website for the university is at http://www.upco.es. As for your living arrangemnts and a good area to live in, as far as I can tell the University is divided up into many different areas and spread throughout the city so it would depend on where you will be attending class I guess. Once you know this, you can look for a "piso" ("apartment"). You can find some good apartment finding resource on my site at www.multimadrid.com/mm_interactive/links/apts.htm Happy house hunting, jer...

Hey Pierre, jer here. Not a native local but I am an adopted one. Actually, Arguelles/Moncloa is a very young and a pretty cool place to live as a student. Due to it's proximity to "Ciudad Universitaria" ("University City") it is popular to students. Some people consider the Moncloa area to be the end of the city but it is a nice area and if you look at a good time (late June, July & August) it is easy to find housing since many university students abandon the city in the summertime and come back in September-October. I would reccommend the "casas compartidas" ("houseshares") section of Segundamano (www.segundamano.es) to search for a room to rent if that is what you are looking for. Another goods source is the Classifieds section of the InMadrid magazine (online at www.in-madrid.com/classifieds). There are usually a decent number of offers in there but they go fast. Saludos, jer...

Sorry Gail, that is WAY too much work, there are just sooo many "barrios" ("neighborhoods") that doing a great job on all of them (if I did cover them I would not have it any other way) would be an overload for this one man project called multimadrid. I already have smoke billowing out of my PC daily That type of section is not in the immediate game plan since my site is more for the Madrid visitor than for the ex-pat who wants to settle here although it is helpful for that person as well. If anyone else however wants to develope that stuff for my site, go for it ! If you want to know about a certain neighborhood, it would be best to start a seperate thread on it on the board and see what advice and comments you get. I guess if it is a Madrid neighborhood, the "off the beaten paseo" forum would be a good place to start the thread since it is not a typically touristy topic. There is a link to that forum below: www.multimadrid.com/cgi-bin/jersbbucgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum&f=3 Saludos y Suerte, jer...
