Hey TORREJON, welcome to the board.

Wow! I just saw in your profile that you have not been back to Spain since 1980 Eeker

How is that possible Confused I thought that once bitten one has to come back at least every few years to survive Big Grin

The closest thing to Burgerpop America here in Madrid lately was an American style Diner called Woody's Diner and there is a thread on it HERE

I am pretty sure Burgerpop America is a thing of the past since the best burger here in Madrid these days is served up at a chain restaurant called "Foster's Hollywood". They claim to be the "American Restaurant" but funny thing is I had never seen one in the 23 years I lived in the U.S.A. but they are everywhere here.

I would have loved to have sunk my teeth into that Burgerpop burger but I was 8 yrs old in 1980 Frowner

Saludos,
jer...

p.d. I also did a web search on it with "Burgerpop", "Burgerpop America" and ""Burgerpop America Madrid" but noithing at all came up Frowner

Well, I think I remember it, but I don`t know if it's still open. If I am not wrong, you are refering to a very small place very close to the Av. America metro station (on the right side of the street) right? I have never eat an hamburger there but remeber they have very good pop-corns.
I will look next time I go through there to see if it's still open.

Thanks for replying to me message. I have eaten at Fosters while stationed in Torrejon.
It was alright but not as good as Burgerpop America. Yes it was on the right hand side of the street. It as ran by a couple of Philipino sisters. Thanks for your answer.
Wish I could make it back there to Madrid, maybe some day.

I will look next time I go to that area.
Burger pop was one of the first places in Madrid where you can eat american food, like pizza, burguers, hot dogs, etc. yeas before all Burgers were opened here

Re thread... never been to BurgerPop but seem to remember having seen it from the bus. Little place right at the start of Av America.

Jer: just so you know, Fosters Hollywood was one of the first hamburger places opened in Madrid way back when. Original owners were three guys from California. One is a friend of mine who eventually opened a great place in LA called Trumps. In the 80s they sold out to an American owner who shall remain nameless who turned it into a chain. I did a brief stint with them as consultant. It was eventually sold again and is now part of the Burger King consorsium. Hence you never having seen it in the US... they did open one in Miami at one time but it has since closed. Their hamburgers are not bad but I must point out (modesty apart) that the best hamburger served in Madrid is at La Gamella. That's customers talking, not me.... Big Grin

Hey buddy, thanks for the history on Foster's Hollywood. Funny thing is that the Spaniards think that that place is all over the U.S.A. Red Face

Sorry about that error on the best burger in Madrid, I did not know you did burgers at La Gamella, that is now on my "to eat" list Big Grin

I would imagine re/Fosters Hollywood that that is just what their marketing department wants people to think: it is another big American chain in Madrid. Wrong.

I think you deserve to have a burger in La Gamella. Call me and we can set up something. We will be open on Saturdays and Sundays as of the middle of March. I am looking forward to the added work load. Razzer But happy for our customers. Smiler
