There are hundreds of events in Madrid Science Week (Nov 3-16), in particular, many
"open days", including the Metro Control Centre.

It�s free, but you have to book in advance by calling 91 379 8644. The address is Avda. de la Albufera 246. The timetable is

Mon 3, Fri 7 and Mon 10 at 10am or at 1130am (six total). I�m thinking of 1130 on the Friday.

It lasts about an hour and I presume will be in Spanish. Stephen

Hey Stephen, I WAS very interested in going to see the Metro control center...

BUT...

I just called and all 6 visits are FULL UP!!! Frowner Razzer :cry:

Oh well, ya snooze :z: ya lose Frowner

It is right near Metro "Alto del Arenal" so it is very easy to get to as well.

No I haven�t called so I guess I�m not going either. Should have realised, that with only 20 slots, there might be a problem.

You can see a bit of the centre in some footage currently on TV in the metro.

Might organise a trip to the Renfe one, they run all year. Stephen

Science week is here again. This year�s (2004) visits to the Metro control centre are at 1000 and at 1130 on Wed 10, Mon 15 and Wed 17 November.

A couple of us tried to go last year but it was booked up. You have to reserve in advance by phoning 91 379 86 44 or by email.

Place, duration are as last year.

It�s also possible to visit the Metro IT Centre near Campo de las Naciones. Same contact as above, dates and times are:

Fri 12, Fri 19, Mon 22, Wed 24, at 1000 or at 1130.

I can�t make any of these. There are lots of other things on in Science Week, maybe I�ll find something to suggest going to. Stephen
