We phoned to ask if we needed a reservation and they just laughed at us!! It was a Saturday in August and not very busy when we got there, no queue to get in.

My first time at Xanad
_____________________________

No pics!!! Frowner Razzer

I skied with my backpack on as I used to but forgot my camera in all the excitement and was having too much fun to take pics with my cell.

Next time I will bring the cam Cool

Xanad was AWESOME and it would seem jer has a new "capricho" aside from computers and electronic gadgets Big Grin

It was Ena, myself, Juliette and Roland on Saturday and we got to Xanad at around 4:45pm as planned.

My first time to an indoor snow park and it was supa-doopa cool!!!

Ena had never skied before so we payed for a lesson for her but they had no "profe" (instructor) available until 8:00pm so in the meantime, Roland, Juliette and I (actually mostly Roland), showed her the basics of the fine art of the slopes Big Grin

After skiing we had a drink at the slope-side bar (warm & cozy) and then went to an Asian restaurant in the mall for a GREAT dinner.

Ena was on her own by the end of our 3 hours skiing, she did great for her first day on the slopes and loved it. Guess we could say she is hooked!!!

There were hardly any lines for a Sat. night and it is not that cold inside since there is no wind to make it chillier.

After a few runs, I was back to my old professional skier/jumper self Big Grin Like riding a bike baby!!! (just hurst more when ya fall :jeje: )

Expensive? Nah, when one considers one can easily spend 30 Euros on a night of bar-hopping and boozing, on a dinner and a movie, etc...

Ya gotta choose your battles I guess. If you go and buy 4 hours of skiing, it costs 24 Euros for the ticket (just 6 Euros/hour). If you need skis, boots, poles, ski pants, a ski jacket and gloves, they RENT IT ALL and the whole package costs only 8 Euros for the entire time you are there.

So, that is 32 Euros for the 4 hours. The best thing is that you are only charged for the time you are skiing. You can ski for a few hours, then go shopping or eat and then go back into the ski area and use the other 2 hours.

You do not have to buy 4 hours of ski time, you can buy as much as you want. The rates on weekends are...

1 hour = 12 Euros.
2 hours = 18 Euros.
4 hours = 24 Euros.

A few Euros less per hour during the week.

The private ski lessons are a bit steep at 28 Euros for a one hour lesson but rumor has it that mm's own "Roland" will be offering his services as ski instructor to any and all mm-ers at reduced rates Wink

If you plan to shop, eat and/or drink, you will of course need more funds but for the skiing, it is VERY reasonable.

Also, the slope-side bars are not too expensive.

Next Xanad ski/shop trip will most likely be Sat., Nov. 29th. (if I can hold out that long). See the thread at http://www.multimadrid.com/cgi-bin/jersbbucgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=000094 for more.

Come one come all!!! Would be tons-o-fun with a big group of mm-ers!!!

Saludos,
jer...

Do you happen to have a revolving door out front?

Yeppers, that's right! 1 hour skiing lesson for anyone who pays for my entry ticket for a 2 hour run (18 ). That way I can get a free hour skiing! Woohoo! :l:

First two signups get a free 1 hour lesson. And as Jer said we'll be going hopefully every last Saturday of the month (unless we're off on the real slopes.)

I can guarantee (i.e. money back) that you'll not get hurt, that you'll enjoy the experience, and that the food and spirits afterwards will taste extraordinarily good. Big Grin

I can't guarantee that every muscle in your body won't ache for a couple of days afterwards. Red Face

And as it's considered a main touristic area because of the ski park, shops are also opened everyday, even sundays, that means ALL sundays, not only the first sunday of month.

Which is perfect if you prefer shopping instead of skiing.
