Hey, in Canillas street ? Really near to me ! The WILD THING is a classic in Madrids night, good music, no commercial, no OT  good prices and Happy Hour on Thursdays. The Pop & Roll is more or less like the Wild Thing, a few meters from it, and owned by one of the members of Hombres G, and El Limonar, in the same street as Pop & Roll, is quiter but nice anyway.

CleoPoleo -- I am not too far from you on the other side of Pza Castilla in the Valdeacederas/Tetun District. I like where I live too (doesnt everyone like where they live?!)...although a very populated neighborhood and finding parking can be very frustrating...even for my little Fiat! I like the diversity, just hate all the construction going on right now. I am right on metro line 1 (Valdeacederas) but am just a 6 minute walk to Plaza Castilla where I can directly get line 10, line 9, and the circular (line 6?). Maybe we can meet up for a caf one of these days!

Hi Chica ! Yep, we live not very far away from each other Parking is a nightmare in almost all districts! But on the other hand, if you dont have a car, those places are perfect to live as you have all kind of public transport, and a taxi at weekends wont cost you a fortune ! That would be nice to meet up for a caf and maybe more people living near us would like to join us !

Ooops! I didnt realize how far Prosperidad was.. When Cleo Poleo mentioned Chamartn...I just assumed it was the northern part of the district which is just on the other side of La Castellana from me. Anyway, since Madrid has a great public transportation system...she isnt so far afterall!! :jeje:

I rented a room in an nice flat off of Avenida de San Luis near Chamartn station, just immediately east of the M-30. I think on the map it was Canillejas. It was a really nice, suburbanized part of town, very well kept with decent amenities, however I never spent time in and around there; I always ventured in to the inner city.
My complaint was that to get downtown, let's say Sol, by the time I took the elevator 16 floors down, walked a quarter mile to the bus stop, waited for it to come, drop me off at Plaza de Castilla, walk through the metro and wait for the train, then transfer a few times, it took a good 50 min. to an hour. It became necessary to really plan my departure because it didn't seem that far, but it took a while.
There were alternate bus roots that I took which depending on traffic would cut time, and I could walk to Chamartn metro in 20 minutes, or take the bus to Duque de Pastrana.
The good part was I taught English further east, off Arturo Soria, way out off the green line, and near Velzquez, so getting to and from work wasn't so bad.
Just more info for you to add to your research.

When I used to live in Madrid when I was about 9-10 years old, I lived really close to Barrio del Pilar, in a community called Arzobismo Morzillo. It was on top of a hill, and there were about 5-6 buildings that made it up, I think. It was right across the street from this huge park. I absolutely loved it there. So, if anyone knows anything about this, I have a couple of questions: What do apartments in that area usually go for? What area of Madrid is that? North? South? What was the name of that park? Thanks to anyone that can answer it. I'm going to be moving to Madrid soon with my grandma again, and we'd like to live around where we used to, so I'm just a bit curious =).

Hey Everlong, I haven't lived here for too long and don't go out of the center of town too much, but I think what you are refering to is: Arzobispo Morcillo. This is a street near hospital de la paz, I believe is also near "barrio del pilar" which is North/Northwest of Madrid center. You can get a street map at: http://callejero.lanetro.com/apps/lanetro/index.asp and type the street name to get an idea of the surroundings. The park's name is "Parque del Norte"
I hate quotations. Tell me what you know.

Hello, Everlong. Welcome back to Madrid. I used to live in Barrio del Pilar. Prices have shot up a bit in that area. You can also try to look at this website: www.idealista.com. You can search offers for houses on sale in this web page and you can do it by geographic areas. You can also do a search by price and more or less see the characteristics of the houses they are selling. Sometimes, they even come with pictures.
