Hola, A friend of mine was doing an intership at Hotel Suecia for most of last year (she was a hospitality administration student). She loved the internship, but let me send her an email and see what she says about the hotel itself. Ill let you know what she says. Michelita

Hola Ricky, You will not regret staying at the Hotel Suecia! I stayed there two Christmases ago and it was delightful. Very clean and spacious rooms. a luxory hotel. The best thing is its safe and convenient location. Midway between the Prado and the Puerta del Sol. Also the Cortes is behind you so it is a very safe area. Let me suggest that you try the Bancotel Coupons they are each worth $50.00 per night per room at the Suecia. Bancotel is a reliable service for discounted 4-5 star rooms. Good luck! Carmen

Hey Booklady, see ricky's opening post at page top, he is already using Bancotel... quote: At the Suceia we need to get 3 rooms (more cost). I'm not sure if it's worth it to pay more for Hotel Suecia(not too much, I'm using Bancotel).
Thanks for the 1st hand feedback on Suecia. Saludos, jer...

Hola, I got an email back from my friend. She said "It's a nice 4-star hotel at the metro stop Banco de Espana. I'd say that it's a fair price for a four star hotel. There's a website for it: www.hotelsuecia.com" However, as I was unclear as to whether I was looking for information about staying there as a guest or working there, she followed that with a bunch of questions as to what kind of info I wanted. I will write her again to seek more inside details. Michelita

Ricky....... I've not stayed there, but based on prior recommendations I booked a double room at the Suecia for the first part of November. Their staff was very accommodating (at least by e-mail). I'm a Hemingway fan and the hotel was mentioned frequently in several of his biographies. I figure if Papa chose to stay there (as opposed to the usual Ritz or Palace) it can't be too shabby even today. The location is great for most any rambling you'd want to do. Thyglow

Hola, I got a real response back from my friend today (hotel suecia in regards to staying there as a guest, not in regards to working there). She wrote: Hey there! Sounds like you haven't fallen out of love with Spain yet....I'm jealous and wish I could be there! As far as Hotel Suecia goes, I would stay there if I had to choose a hotel. I mean, for a four star hotel at 110 euros (plus 7% tax)....you can't go wrong. It's a beautifully furnished hotel with great location. You're right there at metro Banco de Espana. Definitely within walking distance to Sol. I used to do it all the time to get Leche Desnatada at the Sol Corte Ingles for our neurotic owner...anyways...Some of the negatives...it's a bit pricey to eat there, so I definitely wouldn't do that. There isn't a pool or jacuzzi or anything like that either...I guess it all depends what the guest is looking for. If you want something with a bit of an upscale feel, but aren't going to spend much time in the hotel, this would be the place to stay. However, if you don't really care where you stay, you could find something cheaper, but not necessarily nicer...I hope this helps a bit. I would recommend looking at the website to get a true feel for the hotel...www.hotelsuecia.com... Hope this helps! Michelita
