Hi again !

Ive found something regarding schools that might be useful for you. The newspaper El Mundo rates the 100 best private schools every year, and the list for next school year for Madrid is SCHOOLS Unfortunately, is only in spanish language Frowner

As for international schools, the best ones can be found HERE

Good luck !

Yep, Sergeholandes, rents are ridiculous high in Madrid... and not talking about buying.... Just bought a flat a few months ago and the searching was like a nightmare ! And not to mention it will take me 24 years to pay it to the bank... Razzer

Anyway, just for give Ste an idea, I reached flats in Mirasierra area in IDEALISTA and I found a few of them with 4 bedrooms, and parking place included on the rent for about 1500 €, all of them with pool, gardens, etc. That can be an starting point.

Sorry ste, but now I am going to be flippant! Big Grin Not a friend of David and Posh then!!! I just read in the paper today that they have rented a place for 32,000GBS per month!!! Until I read that I thought your budget was huge!

One thought I have had, is that of education. I know you are only there for two years, but have you thought about putting the two younger ones in guarderia, that way they will painlessly learn Spanish. Your wife will also meet other mothers and its a great way to integrate into local life. I say that, as I cant believe you will ever want to leave that lovely city Smiler

Hi Ste,

I relocated 2 months ago like you on a 2 year assignment. Guess what ?? I work for a vehicle leasing company so I'm sure I could arrange someone to give you some quotes etc.

My relocation company found me a nice apartment by Parque Juan Carlos opposite the Campo de las Naciones (sorry about spelling) Corte Ingles.

Its a nice family area with lots of amenities and there seems to be other foreign families living around there too judging by the conversations I hear.

I'm living on my own and it feels really safe here. Though I'm sure the others could give your more information about the area.

In the uk I drove 200 miles a day to work so the 20min commute from there to SS de los Reyes is so lovely for me. Whatever anyone tells you about how bad the traffic is here, I have found that it has never been as bad as the Motorways in the UK (M6, M25 aagh!!)

Take time to look at properties, I had €1500 to spend and the quality varied drastically, the definites I asked for were a pool, garage parking and security. The garage parking has been really good as it can be a nightmare to find a space on the street.

Get in touch if you need help with the car or any other info from a fellow new relocator. Though I agree with everyone else on this board that Madrid is a great place to be.
