it is completely unclear from the link what hotel/hostal they are speaking about. i know one gay hostal/hotel near sol. it is called Chic and Basic: 7 Colors www.7colorsrooms.com
it is right on huertas, rooms are super modern pop and each is done in a different color with "chromotherapy" lighting. bfast is self-serve buffet in a common room and coffee and tea are available all day. my only recommendation is that they upgrade to a suite which gives them twice the space of the regular room and a location in the back of the hotel, away from the noise of huertas.
another gay hostel is Casa Chueca www.casachueca.com on San Bartoleme. 2nd floor, no elevator and no where nears as nice as chic and basic, but it is very cheap.
finally, a new one just opened Hostal Santa Domingo www.hostalsantodomingo.es which is very fashion for less than 100 a night. it is gay friendly too.

OK - guests came and went. I think they had a great time. Did the major museums, the Palacio Real, the Rastro and the Plaza Mayor coins and stamps on Sunday morning, walking around siteseeing thing - lots of eating and drinking with me and then spent a day in Toledo on Monday before catching planes back to NYC Tuesday.
They stayed at the Colors place at #14 Huertas and were quite pleased - though they recommended getting an interior room away from the noise of the street. Even the soap in the dispenser is color coordinated.
Thank you so much for your help!
