Hello, I'm a 20 year old student from Guatemala who is comming to study at the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid for a year as an Exchange student. I'm very excited about my trip but I'm a bit nervous because I have never been to Madrid and therefore have no idea where to look for an apartment. By what I have read the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid is a bit far from the central part of Madrid so my concern is if it is better to live near the university or near the central part. Because I am going to be living on my own I think it would be better to be living in the central part because I wouldent have to ride that far away at night after partying or watever. BUt I realy dont know? So if any one can give me any advice I would realy apreciate it! Thank you!!

Ivanna.

It is usually better to live closer to the center and commute to your school.

I am not sure if your school is located at Moncloa or Cantoblanco.

If it is at Moncloa there are plenty of buses and the metro that will get you there pretty quicky from just about anywhere in or near the center.

If it is the campus at Cantoblanco you will want to find something close to the Cercania line which runs from Atocha, Recoletos, Nuevos Ministerios, Chamartin, up to Cantoblanco. These will all get you there in about half an hour.

There is a tutorial on finding housing with links at:
