hey sue. the chain is "high tech hoteles" and "petit palace" and they are nice. i have stayed at one but not in madrid. they often have good deals on stays and they are clean and modern. every client i have ever had that stayed at them also liked them. no reason not to stay there as far as i can tell. the one near (just about in) sol on calle arenal (there are 2 on calle arenal) is one of the newest ones. i almost booked the petit palace arana in bilbao before i found a better deal. as for noise, it's the puerta del sol so i don't know what to tell ya. if you want quiet, ask them for an interior room. saludos, jer...
