Hi mm'ers. big grin

Just wondering if any of you have ever stayed at one of the petite palaces or high tech hotels in Madrid. There seem to be a lot of them right downtown and I am just looking for some opinions.

The story: My uncle and aunt are coming to Spain in July (they are school teachers) and they said they would take care of all expenses if we would show them Spain! wow Um, ya!

Starting in Sevilla we hope to hit Córdoba, Madrid (who willingly goes to Madrid from Cádiz in July???), Granada, Ronda and Málaga (that's where they are flying out of. There are some other places that we have thought of too along the way like Gibraltar, Caños de Meca, Jerez and Arcos de la Frontera.

Anyway, this chain of hotels looks neat - can anyone actually tell me if they are? Also, anything must see in Castilla de la Mancha???

hey canagaditana.

i know the chain well. the hotels are really very nice for the rates they charge.

they are all very well located in general. the newest one is the posada del peine, right off the plaza mayor in old madrid.

check out THIS PAGE.

the only one i would not recommend right now is the "san bernardo" since the hotel next door is under massive renovations as is the plaza it is in so the construction noise may bother you.

by the way, the "high tech" is just in the name and has nothing to do with the actual technology in the hotels (in case you were wondering).

toledo and cuenca for starters.

Hi
The first time I came to Madrid I stayed at Hotel Petit Palace Londress on the corner of C/ Preciados.
The room was a bit small, but the location for a few days visitor was great.

hey, i have to back nava on this one. petit palace is known for its small rooms. upgrading to a suite will get you a room with the space of a normal double.

if you want good value for space, try
Hotel El Prado(C/Prado, 11, <metro>Sol, tel. 91/369-0234, hotelprado@pradohotel.com, www.pradohotel.com), a classic 3-star hotel right in the center of the action. Originally built as a 4-star, the rooms are the largest you'll find in this price range and feature all the amenities you could want. All rooms are the same price, so ask for one with a terrace on the 6th floor--the views over old Madrid at night are spectacular. If fully booked, inquire about their sister property Hotel Lope de Vega, just around the corner at C/ Lope de Vega, 49. Staff at both places recieve raves for their friendliness.

Ok cool, the chain seemed neat! I will look into making a booking, but I'll also check out the El Prado too!

I wish I could plan trips for a living! It's fun.
