I am looking for a room to rent in Madrid. I would prefer either the Principe de Vergara (around Colombia Metro stop), or the Goya area.
If anyone knows of anything let me know. I am looking to spend 200-300/month. I won't be much in (about 1-2week/month), since I am constantly between Barcelona and Madrid.
Looking for a group of calm people, no botellon crowd or anything like that.
Thanks,
Fab.

That's the thing with housing here in Madrid. There are many situation which are one in a million. So if Texas Mike and the person who replaces him has it then it is not available to you.
There are many people who will tell you about one great deal or another here in Madrid, but what they won't tell you is that it is theirs so you can't have it.
99.9% of these deals that sound too good to be true and that people talk about are tied up most of the time leaving plenty of room for the rest of the landlords to squeeze as many rooms out of their flats as they can and charge what they want.

Sorry I made a small mistake, I meant, Texas Jamie, not Mike, as in Jamie, tall redhead who came out and played with us vball last year. His place was €250/month. Granted the rooms were pretty small, and the kitchen was old and stuff, but I am just looking for a small place were to stay when I come here on business. I know the pricing is right, though I am sure it will take some looking around.

san francisco Mike was paying 390 + bills for his sweeeeet room in goya.
yes, jamie was also in goya and paying "265 a month plus bills" so it is not impossible.
another option is to find a room for like 250-300 and put the wifi in yourself. it would be another 40 euros or so and if you pay for it i am SURE that the other roomies will have no probs with it
as i said, i will keep my eyes peeled for ya buddy.
what you really need to do is get a girlfriend here in madrid and another in barcelona, that way you can shack up with them depending on what city you need to be in there have been cases in u.s.a. of polygamy, a wifey on each coast and the guy was years and years before getting busted.
ok, so that was the old single piggy in me writing
well....this probably won't work out for you at all...but here goes. i have a very tiny room in my lvpies flat. right now luna is staying there temporarily. she pays 325 for all including wifi. she is leaving for a bigger space in novmember.
my deal is...i don't want to rent out permanently. i don't mind someone here for a month or so, or a few days here and there....
so my plan once she leaves is to promote the room as a daily rental for folks either just arriving and in need of a place to set up or for folks temporarily visiting and looking for something cheap that is not a hostel.
anyway, if nothing else works for you, we could discuss something. if you weren't here all the time i wouldn't expect full monthly payments of 325...we could work a percentage or whatever.
the pluses are: central heat, right on lavapies metro, wifi, and me...i am very very laidback and clean, and despite my party gal rep, i almost never have folks in my house and i don't party here. also...due to a new job, which i will announce once the contract is signed...i will be spending a good 50 percent of my time travelling starting next month.
the minuses are: lavapies is not for everyone, the room is small.
anyway the option is there. good luck...i really think you will be able to find what you are looking for, and because you will be there infrequently i think you can negotiate with price.
good luck!!!!!!

@jer, yeah mike was paying a bunch, but it was a really nice place. Jamie's pad was to me a reasonable, and pricing right in line with my expectations. As far as the girlfriend thing, sounds like a good idea
@Candy. I don't think that would quite work out for me, cause I need a place where I can leave my business crap, sniper rifle, scope, little ninja stars... No, really, I need the place to be around Goya area or around Colombia metro because I need it to be close from my clients.
