hello everybody!!!

I am trying to figure out how to get to Spain this summer Wink and I was thinking of taking a month long class in Burgos. I was wondering what would be a good rent for an apartment (with 2 bedrooms) for the month of July and if you think it would need to have air conditioning? I have someone at the University who said they may be able to help me find a place, but I need to give her an idea of what I want. Also, does anyone know where the University is located in Burgos and if there may be apartments nearby?
Thanks Smiler

Marcela,

My husband is from Burgos, so I just asked him about the cost of renting an apartment. He thinks that a 2 bedroom apartment would be between 400-500 Euros a month. Of course, if you're willing to share an apartment with someone you could save money. I don't think you'll need air conditioning--in fact you may have a hard time finding a place with air conditioning in Burgos. The people from Burgos say that their summers only last 2 weeks! It can, and does, get hot during the day (although not as hot as Madrid, for example), but it gets quite cold at night. When I was there last July I actually had to put a winter coat on one night!

Most of the University's buildings are located outside of the center, and there's not much nearby. They're building a lot of new apartments out near the University, but I don't think they would available to rent. Also, living there could get boring--you'd probably enjoy living closer to the center. It's about a 30 minute walk from the city center to the University and there are also frequent buses, so you would have no problems getting to your classes if you lived in the center.

Burgos is a beautiful city and I'm sure you'll enjoy your time there. Feel free to ask any other questions if you have any, and I'll pass them along to my husband since he's the expert.

thanks so much for your response! I was thinking of a 2 bedroom apt. because I would be with my family ( husband--part of the time, and 2 daughters--10 and 15)so I would prefer a place to rent that would be in a safe area not too far from the classes, since I would want my girls to be in an area they could feel comfortable (and safe) hanging around in! So, do you or your husband know of the names of areas I should ask about. Thanks for the insight into the weather, too!
Thanks for any thoughts...I appreciate it! Smiler
